OverviewManager III, SAP Basis Administration is responsible for leading the team that manages SAP Basis, SAP technical platform operations, SAP environment management, and transport governance in support of the Retail Spine transformation initiative a business led, IT enabled modernization designed to strengthen competitiveness, enhance operational efficiency, and enable the future state operating model. This role ensures the stability, performance, and reliability of SAP technical landscapes across S/4HANA, HANA DB, integration layers, and Cloud ALM/SAP Operations. The Manager III partners closely Architecture, a Systems Integrator (SI), and third party technology teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient SAP operations that support mission critical Retail Spine program milestones.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the relationship with SAP for all RISE with SAP operational, and service delivery obligations, acting as the primary internal accountable owner for cloud service performance, SLA governance, and escalation management.
  • Manage the end-to-end provisioning of SAP environments within the RISE with SAP framework, including coordinating system builds, tenant provisioning, and landscape extensions with SAP ensuring environments are delivered to specification, on schedule, and aligned to program milestones.
  • Oversee SAP Basis administration across all Retail Spine landscapes, including system performance management, kernel and patch lifecycle, transport management, monitoring, tuning, and technical troubleshooting within the constraints and shared responsibility model of the RISE with SAP managed environment.
  • Define and govern the SAP environment strategy, including system landscape design, refresh cycles, data masking, transport path governance, cross-landscape consistency controls, and release readiness gates aligned to Retail Spine program waves.
  • Lead the adoption and governance of SAP-native operational tooling as the backbone for monitoring, alerting, automation, change control, and operational analytics ensuring consistent tooling coverage and transparency across all SAP technical operations and SI-managed activities.
  • Own the operational interface with the SI and supporting vendors, ensuring delivery quality, SLA adherence, and integration with enterprise infrastructure and platform teams clearly enforcing the shared responsibility boundaries inherent in the RISE model.
  • Partner with SAP Technology leadership and Solution Architects to align platform operations with the target architecture, clean core adoption principles, BTP integration strategy, and future modernization waves.
  • Establish and maintain KPIs, observability frameworks, and performance baselines to ensure high availability, optimized throughput, and timely resolution of technical issues with particular focus on the operational handoffs between RISE managed services and internal teams.
  • Ensure all SAP platforms operate in compliance with enterprise security standards, including vulnerability management, access controls, and audit obligations working in close partnership with Enterprise Security and the SAP Security/GRC function, accounting for the shared security model under RISE.
  • Define and maintain technical standards, operational runbooks, environment management playbooks, and governance documentation covering both internally managed and RISE-provider-managed components of the SAP landscape.
  • Lead technical execution of cutovers, go-lives, system migrations, refresh cycles, and major Retail Spine deployment events coordinating across the SI, SAP, and internal teams to ensure stable, controlled, and well-rehearsed execution.
  • Provide mentorship, technical direction, and engineering leadership to SAP Basis engineers and platform specialists, building capability in cloud-native SAP operations, Cloud ALM tooling, and RISE-era platform management practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of hands on experience in SAP Basis administration and SAP technical platform management.
  • 3-5+ years of experience leading teams or managing technical SAP operations.
  • Strong technical expertise in SAP S/4HANA, HANA DB, SAP cloud operations, integration points, and cross module Basis management.
  • Experience managing SAP environments on RISE and transport strategy, system refreshes, performance tuning, and patching cycles.
  • Proven experience engaging with Systems Integrators and multi vendor delivery models.
  • Strong understanding of SAP security, audit requirements, and platform level compliance controls.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Information Systems, Technology Management, or related discipline.
  • SAP certifications in Basis, HANA, S/4HANA, or Cloud ALM.
  • Experience supporting large transformation programs (Retail Spine, S/4HANA migrations, RISE with SAP, or cloud hosted SAP platforms).
  • Familiarity with automation, DevOps for SAP, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), or operations modernization.
  • Experience in retail, consumer goods, or other high transaction environments.

Salary Range: $151,200 - $226,800.
