Job description

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary surgical team toassistwith operating room set-up and turn-over to enable efficient use of operating room scheduling time.

  • Operating Room Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Number of Direct Reports:

Minimum Education:High School Diploma or equivalent required.

License/Certification Required:Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN) or Medical Assistant (MA) preferred

Minimum Work Experience:Priorpatient care techexperience preferred

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member

  • Ability to remain calm in fast-paced or emergency situations

  • Ability to multi-task and have strict attention to detail

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operating Room Turnover:Expediteroom turnaround times between surgeries by thoroughly clearing, cleaning, and disinfecting beds, tables, and equipment.

  • Patient Transport & Positioning:Safely escort surgical patients to and from pre-op, the OR, and post-anesthesia care (PACU).Assistnurses in turning and positioning patients on the operating table.

  • Supply Chain:stocknon-sterile supplies, linens,masks, andscrub suppliesin the OR and sub-sterile core areas.

  • Equipment Management:Set up specialized equipment (e.g., warming blankets, hydraulic lifts)

  • Specimen Handling:Transport biological specimens and lab samples to thepathologyspecimen roomor clinical lab followingconfidentialityprotocols.

Obtain blood products from the blood bank.

  • Environmental Control:Maintaina safe, hazard-free, and infection-controlled surgical environment by adhering strictly to universal precautions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS-Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling is required up to 50lbs occasionally, 20-30lbs frequently, and 10lbs constantlymovingobjects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting,squatting, reaching, andprolongedstanding are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may berequired.
