A Salesforce Developer designs, builds, and customizes applications within the Salesforce platform to meet specific business needs. They use programming languages like Apex and Visualforce, as well as tools like Lightning Components, to create custom workflows, integrations, and user interfaces. Salesforce Developers work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, ensure data security, and optimize the platform for better performance and usability. Their work helps organizations automate processes, enhance customer relationship management, and leverage the full capabilities of Salesforce.

What does a Salesforce developer do?

As a Salesforce developer, your duties are to work as part of a development team to code software or application solutions on the Salesforce platform or another piece of Salesforce cloud technology. You typically develop these projects on behalf of other businesses, tailoring development to their needs. These solutions may include new storage architecture, effective strategies to distribute data across a business enterprise network, or innovative methods to create more efficient CRM workflow. Your responsibilities also require you to work closely with QA workers and end users to test solutions and ensure that they meet specifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Salesforce developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Salesforce Developer, you need a solid understanding of Salesforce platform features, Apex programming, Lightning components, and a relevant degree or Salesforce certifications like Salesforce Platform Developer I/II. Experience with Salesforce development tools such as Visual Studio Code, Salesforce CLI, and version control systems is typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, effective communication, and a collaborative mindset help developers excel within cross-functional teams and meet client needs. These competencies are essential to deliver scalable, secure, and effective Salesforce solutions that drive business success.

What are some typical challenges Salesforce developers face when integrating third-party applications?

Salesforce Developers often encounter challenges such as data compatibility issues, managing API limits, and ensuring secure data transfer when integrating third-party applications. They must also stay updated on both Salesforce and external systems' API changes to prevent disruptions. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and external vendors, is essential to design robust solutions and troubleshoot integration problems efficiently.

We’re seeking a Salesforce Developer (3+ years of experience) to support our experienced Salesforce developer and help execute a growing backlog of platform enhancements. This role is ideal for someone early in their Salesforce career who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys hands‑on development, and wants mentorship while contributing meaningful work.

You’ll work across Sales Cloud, Experience Cloud, and custom Apex/LWC components. Experience with Tableau Next or modern analytics tooling is a bonus but not required.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Salesforce Development — Build and modify Apex classes, triggers, Lightning Web Components, and flows.
  • Platform Configuration — Create/update objects, fields, page layouts, record types, validation rules, and flow automation.
  • Backlog Execution — Own small to medium development tasks with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Bug Investigation — Reproduce issues, identify root causes, and deliver fixes.
  • Release Support — Assist with deployments, version control, and environment coordination.
  • Documentation — Maintain technical notes, change logs, and configuration documentation.
  • CrossTeam Collaboration — Work with admins, business teams, and analytics partners to understand requirements.

 Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or other related fields from four-year College or University.
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator (Required)
  • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I (PDI) (Required)
  • Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder (Preferred / Plus)

 Experience

  • 3+ years of Salesforce development experience (Apex, LWC, Flows).
  • Familiarity with Sales Cloud and Experience Cloud (Communities) and custom UI configuration.
  • Understanding of basic integration concepts (REST APIs, Web-to-Case, Web-to-Lead).
  • Experience with Git‑based version control.
  • Exposure to Tableau Next or similar analytics platforms is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce data modeling and reporting best practices.
  • Ability to work in a sprint‑based, structured development environment.

Soft Skills & Work Style

  • Strong communication skills; able to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks with defined priorities.
  • Comfortable working within established architecture and coding standards.
  • Curious, proactive learner who seeks mentorship and continuous improvement.
  • Reliable, consistent, and able to deliver high‑quality work in a contract setting.
