Job description

Director of Business Development

A growth-focused organization in the telecom and infrastructure equipment space is looking for a Director of Business Development to help accelerate national revenue expansion. This is a high-impact opportunity for a relationship-driven sales leader who knows how to win in complex, long-cycle environments and wants the freedom to shape strategy, open new verticals, and build meaningful market presence. The role offers strong earning potential, direct visibility with ownership, and the chance to help influence where the business grows next.

This Role Offers

  • Strong base salary plus uncapped commission potential
  • Direct access to senior leadership and decision-makers
  • An entrepreneurial environment where strong ideas can gain traction quickly
  • The opportunity to help expand into adjacent markets such as data center and power infrastructure
  • A stable, growth-oriented business model with an established customer network and repeat demand patterns

Focus

  • Lead new business development efforts across carrier, enterprise, channel, and infrastructure-related accounts
  • Build and execute a strategic sales plan designed to generate net new revenue and deepen long-term customer relationships
  • Develop opportunities within telecom, IT infrastructure, network equipment, secondary market, and related resale ecosystems
  • Manage the full business development cycle, including prospecting, qualification, solution positioning, proposal development, negotiation, and close
  • Create and maintain a healthy pipeline through outbound outreach, referrals, market mapping, and industry relationship building
  • Identify customer pain points and align available inventory, sourcing capabilities, and commercial solutions to meet business needs
  • Collaborate with leadership on expansion strategies, including new vertical development and go to market priorities
  • Represent the organization at industry events, partner meetings, and other business development forums to strengthen market visibility
  • Maintain disciplined CRM usage, forecast accuracy, and clear documentation of account activity and opportunity progress
  • Contribute ideas that support scalable revenue growth, stronger account penetration, and broader market reach

Skill Set

  • At least 5 years of success in telecom, IT infrastructure resale, secondary market sales, or a closely related broker-style environment
  • Proven ability to generate revenue through independent business development and relationship-based selling
  • Track record of selling into carriers, enterprise customers, channel partners, or similar buyer groups
  • Comfort with longer and more strategic sales cycles
  • Ability to operate with a high level of ownership in a fast-moving, less structured environment
  • Strong commercial judgment, communication skills, and executive presence
  • Experience using CRM platforms and standard business tools for pipeline and account management
  • Existing industry relationships are highly valued
  • Exposure to data center, power, or adjacent infrastructure categories is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and demonstrated sales performance

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Entrepreneurial and self-directed
  • Relationship-first and commercially savvy
  • Agile in approach, with the ability to adjust strategy as market conditions shift
  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and comfortable in a high-visibility role
  • Motivated by both earnings potential and the chance to help build something
