Job description

Job Scope:

This role will have intensive phone contact and manage both incoming and outgoing calls/emails for the Americas sales region, consulting customers on service contracts, service, upgrade and products and applications resulting directly and indirectly in orders or longer-term opportunities. Working closely with Account Managers, the Inside Sales Engineer will provide proactive and mutual service/support to the account managers and customers in activities such as: generating proposals and quotations, managing the opportunity funnel using CRM tools, and driving direct/indirect revenue and long-term growth in the business. 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Main tasks and responsibilities are centralized around direct contact with customers and account managers. 

  • Manage quoting process from enquiry to order acceptance through our global CRM system. 
  • Elaborate customer specific upgrade path in partnership with account manager for existing systems installed at customer sites. This involves defining existing architecture and best path forward leveraging current system.  
  • Work with product management, sales management, account manager to develop an effective upgrade program that brings value to customer while generating revenue for the BU and providing a competitive advantage.  
  • If needed, provide assistance for lab functions, configuration testing, shipment of trial equipment, support on-site demos / trials / meeting, etc.  
  • Track existing service contracts (usage, renewal, etc.). Promote new service contract, training, service visit, advanced remote service, create value added service options, etc. 
  • Source and generate new sales opportunities and orders through inbound lead consulting and outbound prospecting activities. 
  • Support the Regional Sales Teams in developing our relationships with End Customers. 
  • Provide quotations and application support for all BU product lines (SmartAdvisor, SmartView, SmartNET, ...). 
  • Proactive pipeline management and chasing of opportunities. 
  • Provide technical and general office assistance to account managers as/when required, become the point of contact between account managers and factory for technical inquiries.  
  • Record any customer feedback - VOC and feedback to marketing and sales team. 
  • Provide valued and knowledgeable support to customer by promptly replying to their needs, providing guidance and ensuring a strong drive to results. 
  • Ensure end customers are supported by establishing a collaborative and "customer-first" relationship. 

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Customer Service / Sales environment in factory automation or process sensors
  • Ability to understand past cases / service calls for a site. 
  • Strong commercial/business acumen. 
  • Good problem-solving skills 
  • Communication, influencing and assertiveness. 
  • High level of work ethics and customer satisfaction commitment. Must be passionate about meeting customer requirements.  
  • Outstanding customer service and relationship building. 
  • Understanding of sales and operations. 
  • ERP & CRM knowledge desirable.   

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Experience in some of the following areas: machine vision, surface inspection, web inspection, web monitoring, lighting and optics, quality control systems, factory automation. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science 
  • Experience in the Metals and/or Paper industries
