Job description

The Safety Supervisor provides safety leadership and strategic direction by leading the operationsโ€™ safety continuous improvement efforts at the site level. As an integral member of the Safety Team, this position will support and advise site management about the safety systems.

  • Facilitate the safety programs for the site; recommend the design and implementation of new programs to prevent Team member injuries and minimize company losses.
  • Monitors compliance of safety programs through audits, inspections, spot checks, and regular plant walk-throughs.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Regularly inspect and review plant operations to assure compliance of all permits operation and equipment are within state and federal regulations.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Report any potential violations and recommends corrections, as needed.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Analyze accident statistics to establish necessary precautions and changes needed for facility safety.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Communicates safety procedure changes to General Manager/Safety Manager; ensures all health safety policies, procedures, and practices are reviewed on an annual basis or as changes and updates are required by practices or regulation and are rolled-out in a timely manner.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Conduct safety inspections and procedural audits and have the skills, knowledge, and ability to take immediate corrective action if required.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Reviews all safety documents, policies, procedures, and incident reports. Drive change through developing corrective actions related to root cause, indirect cause, and direct cause, as well as providing training on corrective actions to affected Team members.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Investigates all safety-related incident reviews and incident reports and completes necessary reports for risk management system and corporate safety office.

ยทย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Maintain in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed country and state specific safety and legal regulations.

  • Minimum 3 yearsโ€™ professional safety experience in manufacturing industry or construction required.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA hazard communications, accident investigation, and safety training methods.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices.
  • This can be a physically demanding job that can require the ability to lift various building materials, to grip, reach overhead, pull at chest height, bend, stand, walk, kneel, crawl, push, pull, reach & climb for various job assessments / investigations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with external regulators and support multiple teams in order to consistently meet safety and production goals is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and encourage staff, demonstrate empathy for others, to be trained, and take direction is required.
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office programs โ€“ Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Flexible to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
