Job description

Summary of the role
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, where your ideas and contributions will be valued and respected.
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for leading and managing all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) programs at the site, including oversight of facilities and related activities. This role supervises site maintenance staff and ensures EH&S compliance across multiple ICS North America locations, including light assembly, machining, and laboratory environments.
The position also provides EH&S services, technical support, and project management to achieve key objectives, including corporate liability reduction, facility characterization, environmental improvement, and risk mitigation. Additionally, the role oversees maintenance technicians to support the ongoing needs of the manufacturing facility.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance Management - site
  • Manage staff and contractors who perform routine maintenance in electrical, plumbing, EHS, and the set-up of machinery/office equipment and tooling at the site.
  • Oversee execution of work orders and helpdesk requests through the online service request system at the site.
  • Manage execution of scheduled inspections of safety equipment, grounds, and facilities at the site
  • Prepare, as needed, reports and presentations regarding maintenance / facilities observations at the site.

Security - site
  • Creates, modifies, and troubleshoots security and fire system functions for site utilizing access control security software.
  • Provides industry guidance and assistance as coordinator of Workplace Threat Response Team.
  • Collaborates with outside technical security consultants as directed through Workplace Threat Response Team
  • Other duties as assigned.

Environmental Compliance - multiple site
  • Manages environmental compliance programs including waste, storm water, wastewater, air, emergency response, Department of Transportation (DOT), Resource conservation & recovery act (RCRA), Emergency Planning & community right to act (EPCRA), etc.
  • Maintains environmental compliance records.
  • Interfaces with outside technical consultants, regulatory agencies, and corporate compliance.
  • Prepares written responses to regulatory agency inspections and corporate audit reports.
  • Completes and submits Agency required reports (Annual Report, Superfund Amendments reauthorization act (SARA) Reports, Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) Reports, permits, emergency response notifications, etc.).
  • Conducts facility inspections.
  • Coordinates RCRA and DOT training with consulting company.
  • Serves as the facility environmental regulations and permit expert by providing regulatory interpretations for RCRA and other relevant regulations.
  • Provides regulatory expertise by evaluating the regulatory implications of proposed actions. Makes recommendations on courses of action to management.

Safety Compliance - multiple site
  • Manages health and safety programs including forklift training, lockout/tagout (LOTO), cranes and hoists, and other relevant programs.
  • Provides safety training and maintains safety training records, including MSDS.
  • Assists HR with Bureau Workers Compensation (BWC) claims, injury reports, and OSHA 300 Logs.
  • Conducts incident investigations and root cause analysis. Proposes solutions, implements programs, and/or provides training as necessary as a result.
  • Serves as an Emergency Coordinator and manages the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and manage Business Continuity Plan
  • Provides regulatory expertise by evaluating the regulatory implications of proposed actions. Makes recommendations on courses of action to management.
  • Monitors daily operations activities for compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and takes corrective measures when issues of non-compliance are discovered. Conducts regulatory inspections of the operating facility.
  • Develops and provides OSHA training (LOTO, Forklifts, etc.). Conducts, develops and supports new training programs as needed by the organization.
  • Develops and implements project plans to accomplish departmental and corporate goals and objectives for regulatory programs (e.g., internal environmental auditing, groundwater monitoring, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permitting, Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasures (SPCC) program, RCRA and Clean Air Act (CAA) permitting, and regulatory analysis).
  • Updates and maintains Environmental Health and Safety KPIs and division metrics.

Education and Experience Requirements
Education
• Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health & safety, chemistry, engineering, environmental or related field required. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience
• Five (5) or more years of successful, hands-on experience in the environmental, health, and/or safety industry is required.
• Experience in industrial or manufacturing setting preferred.
• Working knowledge/understanding of environmental and related regulations (RCRA, OSHA, EPA, CWA, CAA, etc.) is required.

  • Superb analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to analyze data, draw conclusions and recommend actions using sound judgment.
  • Communication, organization, interpersonal and presentation skills. Must be able to effectively communicate and present information and respond to questions from associates, vendors, customers or regulatory officials. Must possess outstanding writing skills.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety, compliance, and quality.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Must be able to develop comprehensive reports and analyses.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities; ability to multi-task
