Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Grader Labor is responsible for inspecting and removing eggs with checks, bloods, dirts and leakers as they move through the candling booth, and properly packaging eggs on the back line. Other duties include keeping the grader area clean at all times (i.e., always keeping egg picked up off the floor and trash in their proper receptacles). All duties should be performed in an exemplary and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • While candling, remove checks, bloods, dirts, leakers, and any other foreign objects as eggs go by.
  • Properly package egg cartons and properly label boxes.
  • Constantly watch dating on cartons and quality (i.e., checks, dirts, leakers and weights), immediately inform the person running the egg grader and the Quality Control Inspector when there is a problem.
  • Rotate between packer and candler duties at intervals specified by Grader Manager in a safely and timely manner.
  • Keep area neat, clean, and organized (i.e., egg cleaned up off floor and garbage picked up.
  • Alert (within a reasonable time frame) area supervisor or Grader Manager to any urgent or emergency situations which require immediate attention or approval
  • Familiarize self with and conform to all Rose Acre Farms Policy Handbook policies.
  • Familiarize self with and conform to all Rose Acre Farms Biosecurity Program policies.
  • Familiarize self with and conform to Good Manufacturing Practices Handbook (GMP).
  • Familiarize self with and conform to all Rose Acre Farms' safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform any other duties deemed necessary or vital to Rose Acre Farms' operations or interests
  • This position requires workers to use hands in a repetitive manner, standing in one place for extended periods of time, repetitive bending and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Must be able to reach areas only accessible by ladder. Must be able to climb to and perform repairs on equipment in hard-to-reach places.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Capable of performing routine math calculations, including addition and subtraction.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Good communication skills (i.e. written and verbal).
  • Be available to work flexible hours - including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to quickly address critical and urgent situations.
  • Possess good decision-making skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
  • Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
  • Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
  • Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
