Job description

The Retail Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the retail shops to ensure exceptional customer service, efficient workflow and achievement of sales objectives. This position supervises and develops retail staff, manages inventory and merchandising standards, coordinates scheduling and operational activities, and ensures a positive shopping experience for guests. The Retail Supervisor serves as a key leader in maintaining operational excellence, fostering employee engagement and supporting the overall success of the retail department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepare job requisitions, interview, hire and train staff.
  • Prepare schedules and work assignments.
  • Organize perpetual inventory of stock.
  • Maintain inventory and other stock records.
  • Prepare and maintain timecards in ADP time system.
  • Organize merchandise on display and in stock.
  • Determines necessary changes in day-to-day operations with special emphasis on seasonal changes.
  • Requisitions of supplies needed for work areas.
  • Summarize a situation to determine alternative procedures that enhance workflow.
  • Develop, administer and adhere to departmental budget.
  • Monitor employee performance.
  • Complete appropriate trainings listed on the human resources Training Matrix.
  • Adhere to Wheeling Park Commission’s safety rules and policy; refer any and all safety concerns to department manager, safety committee or human resources.
  • Interact with the public with a cheerful and positive attitude, solve guest problems and complaints in a proper manner, and maintain harmonious working relationships with fellow employees.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
