Job description

Human Resources Manager
Transdev in Hartford, CTis hiring aHuman Resources Manager.This position supports the management team with full-cycle recruiting and all other HR-related responsibilities. Inclusive of financial information regarding the project, including but not limited to, human resources, payroll, accounts payable and receivable. Proficiently uses the HRIS, Recruitment, and timekeeping information system.We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

  • Competitive compensation package of minimum $69,000 - maximum $80,000

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for interpretation, and implementation of policies, procedures, laws, standards and government regulations to all employees.
  • Ensures that staffing levels are maintained. This includes staffing plans, overseeing hiring campaigns, post positions in Jobvite, screening candidates and hiring employees, conducting orientations, retention, etc. (e.g., utilizes HRIS system and Jobvite).
  • Will be responsible for Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) interruption and adherence. Will also assist in union contract negotiations to ensure that the appropriate issues are addressed accordingly and timely with functional departments and labor team.
  • Maintains personnel files and routinely audits I-9 documents.
  • Manage FMLA and other leaves at the facility.
  • Maintain contract files and records.
  • Prepare contract correspondence, manager reports, and schedules.
  • Administer data, recruitment, personnel records and backup for payroll.
  • Coordinates employee benefits at the contract level.
  • Answer phone and redirect calls
  • Schedules appointments and meetings for management. Prepares agendas. Prepares and sends faxes, e-mail and mail as required.
  • Review and track disciplinary actions, leaves, etc.
  • Provides training
  • Coordinate employee benefits
  • Provides and maintains current information and literature relating to employee handbooks, recognition programs, employee files, and other Human Resources files
  • Inputs and develops with operating management proactive employee relations strategies for both union and non-union salaried, driver, and shop personnel, promoting more positive, collaborative working relationships and open communication between parties, thereby improving how disputes are addressed
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements employee relations best practices
  • Provide advice, support, and communications to branch managers on employee relations matters, data and contingencies, dispute resolution, handbook interpretation and administration, employee disciplinary matters, labor code, human rights, and other statutory obligations, utilizing legal and other resources when necessary.
  • Maintains awareness of human resource trends, practices, or legislation affecting employment-related programs, policies, or procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant direct experience managing human resource and labor relation aspects of a public transit service
  • Administering a collective agreement
  • Experience with recruitment and terminations
  • Experience with benefits and compensation
  • Administering employee files
  • Serving as labor relations specialist responsible for education, training, and outreach to employees
  • Other relevant Human Resources qualifications
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:
  • The essential functions of this position require the ability to:
  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6-8 hours per day); frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Push and pull objects, occasionally throughout the workday; lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to files or equipment stored at ground level.
