Houston Methodist The Woodlands is seeking a board-certified Internal Medicine physician to supervise Internal Medicine residents and serve as Core Faculty for the Internal Medicine residency program. This is a clinical faculty position with a strong focus on academic responsibilities. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as attending/faculty physicians in the residency continuity clinic supervising residents.
  • Provide direct patient care for patients.
  • Assist in developing, directing, and managing the Internal Medicine residency program.
  • Administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating residents in each of the ACGME competency areas. 
  • Regularly participate in organized clinical discussions, rounds, including journal clubs and conferences. 
  • Serve as role models and mentors for the residents.
  • Participate in scholarly activity and quality improvement projects with the residents.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in teaching and precepting residents, a minimum of three years of experience in graduate medical education, and skills in research or quality improvement focused in ambulatory care & hospital settings.  The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated leadership in GME, including residency program administration, curriculum development, and resident mentorship.  A strong track record in teaching within an ambulatory care setting, along with a passion for shaping the culture and growth of a residency program.  Support and infrastructure are available for scholarly activity, including quality improvement initiatives, research collaboration, and national presentations.  This position also provides opportunity to join a collaborative and engaged leadership team committed to mentorship, innovation, and excellence in graduate medical education

Qualifications include current certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine and eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the state of Texas.
The core faculty will also be provided academic titles with our Houston Methodist Academic Institute and our Medical School affiliates such as Weill Cornell Medical College and/or Texas A & M College of Medicine.  Ultimate title of Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical Professor is commensurate with experience.
