We coach our staff to treat every customer as a guest in our own home—because that’s who we are, and that’s who we’ll always be.
We believe that hospitality, when done well, can be a transformative force in a community.
About the Role:
As a Host, you will be the first point of contact for guests, playing a crucial role in creating a welcoming and positive experience from the moment they arrive. Your primary objective is to manage guest flow efficiently, ensuring timely seating and minimizing wait times while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. You will coordinate with the service team to optimize table assignments and accommodate special requests, contributing to smooth restaurant operations. Additionally, you will handle reservations, answer inquiries, and address guest concerns promptly to uphold high customer satisfaction standards. Your role is vital in setting the tone for the dining experience and fostering repeat business through exceptional hospitality.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or hospitality role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and manage a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic proficiency with reservation and point-of-sale systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working as a host or in a similar front-of-house position in a restaurant setting.
  • Familiarity with reservation management software such as OpenTable or Resy.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of local dining trends and customer service best practices.
Responsibilities:
  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival and manage the seating process to ensure efficient table turnover.
  • Maintain an organized waitlist and communicate accurate wait times to guests.
  • Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to optimize seating arrangements and accommodate special requests.
  • Answer phone calls to manage reservations, provide information, and handle guest inquiries.
  • Address guest concerns or complaints promptly and escalate issues to management when necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the host station and entrance area.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties as required.
Skills:
The required communication and interpersonal skills are essential for greeting guests warmly, managing inquiries, and coordinating with team members to ensure smooth operations. Proficiency with reservation and point-of-sale systems enables efficient handling of bookings and seating assignments, reducing wait times and improving guest satisfaction. Physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment allow the host to maintain energy and attentiveness throughout busy service periods. Preferred skills such as multilingual abilities and conflict resolution enhance the host's capacity to serve a diverse clientele and address challenges effectively. Together, these skills contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere and a seamless dining experience for all guests.
