Job description

The Business Development Coordinator (BDC) will work directly with the regional account managers to coordinate weekly trip planning for potential SIGMA business opportunities. The BDC will ensure all incoming opportunities are assessed and distributed to the appropriate team within the organization. The BDC should be highly organized and possess strong project management skills as this person will oversee opportunities in their entirety.


 Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Guide and support account managers to maximize effectiveness and efficiency with travel schedules
  • Responsible for coordinating regional account manager’s weekly trip schedule based on opportunities presented (or prospected)
  • Maintain positive relations with customers and potential customers daily
  • Canvas regional areas for new opportunities in addition to existing scheduled opportunities
  • Prospecting calls to potential customers and convey the benefits of selling equipment
  • Collaborate with internal departments to assess where the need or opportunity should be allocated and communicate next steps with team
  • Field incoming leads and deals to the appropriate area of the company (ex SIGMA Group, Integration, Surplus).
  • Facilitate auction inspections for corporate auction buyer
  • Proactive approach to ensuring regional account managers consistently have opportunities identified for future trips
  • Assist Account Managers with old stage 4 and 5 purchasing attempts.
  • Coordinate educational seminars and/or activities to stay current on supporting industry and trends.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Works well in a fluid environment where responsibilities frequently change based on the needs of the business
  • Basic concept knowledge of project management (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure)
  • High level of communication skills (internal and external)
  • Organizational skills - strong attention to detail, ability to multitask
  • Highly motivated; self starter, forward thinker, problem solver
  • General knowledge of divisions within SIGMA; industry knowledge a plus
  • Professional delivery of messaging via phone and email


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business related field is strongly preferred. 
  • Past project management experience
