A Remote WMS (Warehouse Management System) Analyst is a professional who specializes in managing, analyzing, and optimizing warehouse management software systems while working off-site. Their responsibilities often include configuring WMS software, troubleshooting system issues, supporting warehouse operations, and improving workflow efficiency. By working remotely, they leverage communication tools and remote access to ensure warehouses run smoothly and data is accurately managed. This role is crucial for companies looking to streamline logistics and inventory management without requiring on-site IT presence.

They are similar in work environment and employer usage, making them common comparison points for job seekers in supply chain fields.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote WMS Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote WMS Analyst, you need a solid understanding of warehouse management systems, supply chain processes, and data analysis, often backed by a degree in information systems or logistics. Familiarity with leading WMS platforms (such as Manhattan Associates or SAP EWM), SQL, and sometimes relevant certifications like APICS or Six Sigma are typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and the ability to work independently are crucial soft skills for remote collaboration and troubleshooting. These competencies ensure efficient system performance, accurate inventory management, and effective support of warehouse operations from a remote setting.

How does a Remote WMS Analyst effectively collaborate with onsite warehouse teams?

Remote WMS Analysts frequently partner with onsite warehouse staff through video meetings, instant messaging, and remote access tools to resolve system issues and optimize workflows. Clear communication and documentation are essential, as analysts must translate technical solutions for non-technical users and ensure alignment across shifts and locations. Building strong working relationships and staying proactive with regular check-ins help overcome the challenges of not being physically present, ensuring smooth warehouse operations and timely project deliveries.

Job description

We are partnering with a rapidly growing, acquisition-driven supply chain and manufacturing organization to add a Senior Solution Architect to their team. This company has built a strong reputation for operational excellence and continues to expand through both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

This is a high-impact role where you will directly influence how newly acquired businesses are integrated into a standardized technology environment, while also helping evolve the future-state architecture of the enterprise.

If you enjoy solving complex operational problems, working at the intersection of business and technology, and having real influence on how systems are designed and implemented, this role offers a rare opportunity to do all three.

This is a remote, contract-to-hire position with some travel tied to project work (20%).

The Role You'll Play

This is a senior-level, techno-functional role focused on Warehouse Management (WMS), Transportation Management (TMS), and broader supply chain systems.

You will act as a bridge between business operations and technology, helping translate how warehouses and logistics functions operate into scalable, efficient system solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead solution design and system integration efforts for newly acquired businesses

  • Analyze existing warehouse and transportation processes and map them into standardized enterprise systems

  • Identify gaps between current-state operations and target architecture, and design solutions to close those gaps

  • Drive data migration, system integration, and process alignment efforts across ERP, WMS, and TMS platforms

  • Partner closely with developers, data engineers, QA, and business stakeholders to execute solutions end-to-end

  • Support user acceptance testing, go-live activities, and post-implementation optimization

  • Influence long-term architecture decisions, including potential future WMS platform upgrades

  • Balance system-based solutions vs. process improvements, knowing when each is appropriate

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of core systems and enterprise architecture

This role sits within a highly collaborative environment and plays a critical role in ensuring acquisitions are integrated quickly and effectively.

Background Profile

We are looking for a senior-level Solution Architect who combines strong supply chain domain knowledge with the ability to design and implement scalable systems.

  • 8+ years of experience in Solution Architecture, Business Systems, or similar roles

  • Strong experience with WMS and/or TMS systems in a distribution or manufacturing environment

  • Deep understanding of warehouse operations including picking, packing, shipping, inventory, and fulfillment workflows

  • Experience supporting system migrations, integrations, or M&A-related technology initiatives

  • Strong ERP experience, ideally in environments supporting both manufacturing and distribution

  • Ability to translate business processes into technical solutions

  • Experience working with SQL and data structures to analyze system behavior

  • Familiarity with IBM iSeries / AS400 environments

  • Experience working within SDLC and Agile delivery models

  • Strong communication skills, able to interact with both technical and business stakeholders

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience with WMS platforms such as Manhattan, Blue Yonder, RedPrairie, Körber, Softeon, or Tecsys

  • Exposure to Transportation Management Systems such as 3G TMS or similar

  • Experience with Epicor CMS and/or S2K ERP systems

  • Exposure to AI-driven or AI-enabled supply chain solutions

  • Prior experience working in acquisition-heavy or high-growth environments

  • Ability to read or interpret code (RPG or modern languages), not required to develop
