Job description

The Performance Analyst, Mid monitors and analyzes the performance of enterprise IT systems and services to ensure they meet defined service levels and user experience expectations in a mission-critical federal environment. This role collects, correlates, and interprets metrics and logs from infrastructure, applications, and networks to identify performance bottlenecks and stability issues. The analyst builds dashboards, reports, and alerts that provide actionable insights to operations, engineering, and security teams, partnering with stakeholders to prioritize remediation and capacity initiatives that continuously improve system reliability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain performance monitoring dashboards and alerts using log analytics and observability platforms to track infrastructure and application health across the federal client environment.
  • Collect and correlate metrics, events, and logs from servers, networks, databases, and applications to diagnose latency, throughput, and error-rate issues with increased complexity and scope.
  • Perform trend analysis and capacity assessment to forecast performance risks and recommend scaling, optimization, or architectural changes that support evolving mission requirements.
  • Conduct structured root cause analysis on recurring performance incidents, documenting findings and driving follow-up actions with operations and engineering teams to reduce recurrence.
  • Develop and refine performance KPIs and service level objectives (SLOs) that align technical measurements with business and mission-critical outcomes, ensuring stakeholder alignment.
  • Use tools such as network performance monitors and log analytics platforms (e.g., SolarWinds, Splunk) to investigate anomalies, validate hypotheses, and support incident response efforts with greater autonomy.
  • Create recurring performance reports and executive summaries that translate complex technical data into clear, data-driven recommendations for leadership, audit, and compliance reviews.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance stakeholders to ensure performance tuning and optimization maintain required controls in a highly regulated federal environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 4-7 years of experience in IT operations, systems engineering, or data analytics with a demonstrated focus on performance monitoring and analysis.
  • Proven practical experience with performance analysis tools and platforms such as Splunk, SolarWinds, or similar observability solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Solid understanding of root cause analysis, problem-solving techniques, performance metrics, and improvement strategies, with demonstrated application in complex IT systems.
  • Active SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain and maintain required clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Availability for remote work with travel of less than 10%.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with platforms such as SolarWinds, Splunk, or similar observability tools for large-scale, mission-critical enterprise environments.
  • Exposure to performance analysis for large-scale networks or distributed applications supporting federal government or public-sector customers.
  • Relevant certifications in IT service management, data analytics, or monitoring platforms (e.g., CPA, ITIL Foundation, vendor-specific certifications).
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) or U.S. Army IT environments, compliance frameworks, and security requirements.
