Job Description
TRIA is looking to hire a Sports Performance Coach to join our TRIA GameFace team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.
Position Summary:
In partnership with the Director of Sports Performance Coaching and the Senior Sports Performance Coach, the Sports Performance Coach is responsible for their assigned performance coaching function and will collaborate in the implementation of the multidiscipline strategy for TRIA Sports Performance. Will adhere to the cohesive integration of the Sports Performance Coaches with the other disciplines within the facility and across the greater TRIA Sports Medicine initiatives. Will coach in support of Park Nicollet / TRIA's mission, vision and values.
The Sports Performance Coach will provide direct client coaching in their area of expertise in accordance with determined departmental business need and will assist the Director of Sports Performance Coaching as needed in the development and implementation of evidence-based, results driven Sports Performance Coaching program content and curriculum. They will be committed to professional growth and development, goal setting, outcome/competency assessment, effective Sports Performance facility, software and tools use, compliance with regulatory standards, process improvements, and effective teamwork.
Assists in the business implementation and retention of Sports Performance contracted teams and individual clients, both internal and external to the TRIA facility. Requires both collaborative and independent action and a high degree of initiative. Exercises imagination and creative abilities to respond to situations. Identifies unique or complex problem areas and develops recommendations.
They will communicate timely, clearly and in a professional manner with our external customers as well as staff, clients/patients, family members, performance coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, physicians and other providers and internal stake holders. The Sports Performance Coach will demonstrate skills in listening, conflict management, system problem solving, decision-making and process improvement. Commits to adhering to all rules and regulations of Park Nicollet / TRIA. This position works in a creative and collaborative team environment where change is embraced and innovation is encouraged.
Work Schedule:
Casual position - Evenings and weekends
Minimum requirement is 2 shifts per month.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • 1+ years of experience in the sports performance industry working with athletes of all ages and abilities.
  • Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
  • Must be first aid and CPR Certified.

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient in evidence-based exercise programming, instruction of safe weight lifting and conditioning techniques.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of clients and patients.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anatomy, physiology, exercise science, athletic performance enhancement, injury prevention, risk factor modification, blood pressure and heart rate monitoring.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of effects of exercise and ability to modify program as needed for each individual.
  • Has basic knowledge of nutrition, risk factors and behavior modification strategies.
  • Experience in NCAA, NFHS, MSHSL and individual professional sports leagues rules and regulations as it pertains to performance enhancement and coaching.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:
    • Master's degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science or other related field preferred with 3+ years of experience in the sports performance industry working with athletes of all ages and abilities, including D1 Collegiate or professional athletes.
  • Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
  • CSCS, ACSM Exercise Specialist or equivalent certification.

  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Background in sports medicine and/or the sports performance industry, preferably in a setting with integration of the services in collaboration such as collegiate or professional athletics.
  • Experience in the creation of and delivery of high-level presentations.
  • Background in human performance research. May include research methods, grant writing, statistical analysis, paper writing, submission and publication.
