What is a remote restaurant?

A remote restaurant is a dining establishment that operates without a traditional dine-in space, focusing on delivery or takeout orders only. Often referred to as a 'ghost kitchen' or 'virtual restaurant,' these businesses prepare meals in a commercial kitchen and fulfill orders through online platforms or apps. This model allows restaurants to reduce overhead costs associated with in-person dining and reach a broader customer base through digital channels. Remote restaurants have become increasingly popular due to shifting consumer preferences and advancements in food delivery technology.

How does working in a remote restaurant support role differ from a traditional on-site restaurant position?

In a remote restaurant support role, such as customer service or order management, you'll be managing guest interactions and operational tasks online or by phone rather than in person. This means your daily responsibilities focus on processing orders, resolving customer inquiries, and coordinating with kitchen and delivery teams virtually. While you avoid the fast-paced physical environment of a restaurant, strong communication and multitasking skills are essential to ensure smooth service. Collaboration is typically done through digital platforms, and you may need to adapt to varied schedules or time zones, depending on the restaurant's hours and customer base.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote restaurant manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Restaurant Manager, you need experience in hospitality management, operational oversight, and a strong understanding of restaurant business practices, often supported by a degree in hospitality or business. Familiarity with cloud-based POS systems, inventory management software, and online ordering platforms is typically required. Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help manage remote teams and ensure smooth operations. These abilities are crucial for maintaining service quality, customer satisfaction, and efficient team coordination from a distance.

Job description

We're Hiring: Restaurant Operations Specialist (Pizza/QSR Expertise)
Location: Remote
Company: FoodTec Solutions
Full-Time | Competitive Compensation | Tech + Restaurant Industry

About Us

At FoodTec Solutions, we build smart technology that powers the next generation of restaurant operations — from order management and delivery integrations to real-time analytics and kitchen automation. Our mission is to help restaurants run faster, smarter, and more profitably.

We're growing fast and looking for an Account Manager / Customer Success Specialist with a restaurant operations background — ideally someone who has worked as a General Manager in pizza or QSR environments — to help our customers succeed with our platform.

The Role: Restaurant Operations Specialist

In this role, you'll be the face of our company to our restaurant partners. You’ll ensure a seamless onboarding experience, provide ongoing support and optimization, and be the trusted advisor that helps operators get the most out of our tools. Your real-world operations experience will help clients trust you — and help us continuously improve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage customer relationships post-sale, ensuring high satisfaction and retention
  • Understand each client’s operational goals and tailor platform usage to meet their needs
  • Troubleshoot issues and serve as a key liaison between customers and our product/support teams
  • Monitor account health using data and analytics, and proactively identify areas for improvement
  • Provide feedback to internal teams based on customer needs and restaurant workflows
  • Contribute to the development of training content, SOPs, and best practices
  • Advocate for the customer internally and help shape the product roadmap with an operator’s point of view

Ideal Background

  • 3–7+ years of restaurant management experience (General Manager level or higher) in pizza, QSR, or fast casual
  • Deep understanding of day-to-day restaurant operations, labor scheduling, inventory, kitchen workflows, and delivery logistics
  • Experience working with POS systems, KDS, third-party delivery platforms (e.g., DoorDash, Uber Eats), and restaurant apps
  • Strong communication skills — you can speak "operator" and "tech" fluently
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with tech, sales, support, and training teams
  • Passion for innovation in the restaurant industry and improving the lives of frontline teams

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary + performance-based bonuses
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Flexible remote/hybrid work options
  • Career growth in a fast-paced tech company reshaping the restaurant industry
  • Work with a mission-driven team of restaurant veterans and tech innovators
  • Direct impact on customer outcomes and product development

Use Your Restaurant Expertise to Shape the Future of Foodservice Tech

If you’ve lived the rush of Friday night pizza service and understand how tech can make or break a shift — we want to hear from you.
