About Food For The Poor
Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance. Overall Responsibility:
The Country Program Manager (CPM) serves as the primary point of contact and liaison for Food For the Poor's (FFTP's) programs in the assigned country. The CPM ensures the successful implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects and programs, while collaborating with Implementing Partners (IPs), internal departments, and donors. The role involves strategic program design, donor engagement, in-kind aid integration, emergency response coordination, and partner development, all aligned with FFTP's mission and country-specific strategy.
*Required to work remotely in Kingston, Jamaica. **Candidate MUST be a resident of Kingston, Jamaica. ***Having an LLC registered will be ideal.
Duties:
Project & Program Management
  • Lead full project life cycle management: proposal development, implementation, monitoring, and close-out.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on scope, on budget, and in line with FFTP strategic priorities, donor requirements, and country needs.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality standards, and compliance.
  • Ensure all projects and programs comply with FFTP policies, donor requirements, and local laws throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee proper financial management and fund disbursement for all country programs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with Finance, PQ-MEAL, and PDR teams to ensure compliance with donor regulations, reporting requirements, and risk management protocols.
  • Identify and mitigate compliance risks related to program implementation, in-kind aid distribution, and emergency response activities.
  • Oversee financial reporting and due diligence across all projects/programs.
  • Provide strategic guidance to IPs for project and program concept development.
  • Review and approve project proposals and status reports from IPs, ensuring alignment with FFTP priorities and standards.
  • Vet all qualitative and quantitative content prior to submission to Proposal Development & Reporting (PDR) team.

In-Kind Aid & Resource Integration
  • Identify country-specific needs and coordinate with Purchasing/GIK teams for procurement and distribution.
  • Ensure proper integration of in-kind goods into programs and monitor compliance.
  • Identify and develop new local in-kind aid partnerships.

Angels of Hope Institutions
  • Supervise in-country engagement to ensure quality care and adherence to FFTP standards.
  • Facilitate inclusion of in-kind aid, infrastructure, and programming.
  • Support identification and development of new institutions in underserved areas.

Emergency Response & Preparedness
  • Participate in disaster coordination and serve as field liaison during emergencies.
  • Coordinate needs assessments, partner engagement, and reporting during crises.
  • Collaborate with Emergency Response & PQ-MEAL teams for local response planning.

Partnerships & Donor Engagement
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with IPs, corporate stakeholders, and regional networks.
  • Align partnerships with FFTP's SHARPEN Strategic Plan and Country Strategy.
  • Support donor trips by providing contextual insight, narratives, and translation as needed.
  • Serve as a technical resource during donor briefings, integrating donor priorities into program design.

Strategic Alignment
  • Act as a central liaison between departments, donors, and partners, fostering program cohesion.
  • Ensure programs are sustainable, community-driven, and aligned with FFTP strategic priorities.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in international development, project management, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years' experience in program/project management in international development or humanitarian contexts.
  • Proven experience in partner development, monitoring & evaluation, and multi-stakeholder coordination.
  • Proven experience in at least some of the following technical areas: community development, agriculture, health, education, economic empowerment, child sponsorship, food security, and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene).
  • Fluency in English and Spanish; French/Creole required for Haiti.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, mostly in-country.
  • Requirement: Valid passport with the necessary travel visa.
