Overview

Position Summary

As the Senior Payroll Analyst - Union, you will support the Payroll team by ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for weekly union employees. This role involves maintaining compliance with company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and federal, state, and local regulations. You will play a pivotal role by establishing strategic partnerships with key departments internally and with applicable union representatives externally.

  • Lead the union payroll process to ensure the successful and timely processing of payroll for union employees, adhering to company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and federal and state regulations.
  • Identify potential payroll-related risks and implement controls to mitigate errors, fraud, or compliance violations.
  • Take charge of payroll-related escalations and collaborating with other departments to implement corrective actions and prevent future issues.
 Benefits and Deduction Management
  • Ensure union benefit contributions and employee deductions are accurately set up, maintained, paid, and reported in line with collective bargaining agreements and regulatory requirements.
 Strategic Partnership / Union Relations
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with Finance, IT, HR, Labor Relations, and operational departments to align payroll practices with business needs.
  • Participate in union negotiations, grievances, and other related activities, ensuring payroll practices align with collective bargaining agreements and established practices.
 Process Optimization
  • Standardize and optimize existing divisional processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across payroll operations.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and flowcharts for all payroll processes to ensure accuracy and up-to-date documentation.
 Compliance and Legislative Awareness
  • Stay informed about federal, state, and local payroll legislation impacting the business. Coordinate with internal and external parties to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the Union Time and Attendance System, ensuring it is updated and compliant with collective bargaining agreements and wage and hour regulations. Establish a governance process to manage changes effectively.
 Miscellaneous
  • In this role, there may be special projects or other job duties assigned by Management.
  Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a union payroll environment.
  • Proficiency with cloud-based (SaaS) payroll applications, preferably Ceridian Dayforce.
  • Advanced skills in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Smartsheet.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate cross-collaborative relationships and influence at all organizational levels.
  • Extensive knowledge of FLSA, federal, state, and local wage and hour, and tax regulations.
  • Proven ability to streamline processes for efficiency while maintaining a balance of internal controls.
  • Customer-centric approach with effective communication skills across all levels of leadership.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively assist employees with payroll related inquiries.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret collective bargaining agreements for payroll, benefits, and paid time off rules.
Compensation and BenefitsReports ToPayroll Director  Compensation

The listed pay range reflects the expected base rate for this position. Within the range, individual pay may vary based on experience, qualifications, and work location within state. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits.

  • Base: $80,000 - $110,000
  • Bonus: 10% Target Bonus
  • Total Compensation (Base + Bonus): The successful candidate could reasonably expect a Total Compensation Package in the range of $85,000 - $127,000
  • Equity: This role is not eligible for equity opportunities, awards or grants.
