Job description

Direct Counsel is seeking a Municipal Finance Associate with 3โ€“6 years of experience to join a highly regarded Public Law practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney interested in advising public agencies and other participants in sophisticated municipal finance transactions throughout California.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting municipal finance matters, strong drafting and analytical skills, and a demonstrated interest in public agency representation.

Responsibilities
  • Represent public agencies, underwriters, lenders, borrowers, and other participants in municipal finance transactions
  • Assist with the structuring, negotiation, and closing of public finance transactions
  • Draft and review financing documents, resolutions, agreements, disclosure documents, and related transaction materials
  • Conduct due diligence and assist with transaction management
  • Research and analyze municipal finance, regulatory, and public law issues
  • Advise clients regarding financing structures, regulatory requirements, and transaction-related risks
  • Collaborate with attorneys and clients to develop practical, business-oriented solutions
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active California Bar membership in good standing
  • 3โ€“6 years of experience with municipal finance transactions
  • Experience representing public agencies, underwriters, lenders, borrowers, or other transaction participants
  • Strong legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Demonstrated interest in public agency representation
  • Ability to analyze sophisticated financing structures and regulatory requirements
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
Compensation & Benefits
