What is a remote military finance?

A Remote Military Finance job involves managing and overseeing the financial operations and support services for military personnel and organizations, but the work is performed remotely rather than on a military base or office. These professionals handle tasks such as budgeting, payroll, financial analysis, and compliance with military regulations, all through digital communication and secure platforms. Remote Military Finance roles require an understanding of both finance principles and the unique requirements of military financial systems, often assisting service members with pay, benefits, and financial planning. These jobs are ideal for individuals who have experience in accounting or finance and are familiar with military procedures, offering the flexibility to work from various locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote military finance specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Military Finance Specialist, you need a solid understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and government regulations, typically supported by a degree in finance or accounting. Familiarity with military financial systems like DFAS, proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and relevant certifications such as Certified Defense Financial Manager (CDFM) are often required. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills help you manage sensitive data and collaborate with dispersed teams. These skills ensure accurate financial operations, compliance with military standards, and support mission readiness from a remote environment.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote military finance, and how can they be effectively managed?

Professionals in Remote Military Finance often encounter challenges such as navigating complex military-specific regulations, maintaining secure communication with dispersed teams, and managing financial data across multiple time zones. Effective management requires strong organizational skills, familiarity with Department of Defense financial systems, and proactive collaboration with both military personnel and civilian contractors. Staying current with regulatory changes and leveraging secure digital tools can also help ensure compliance and smooth financial operations in a remote setting.

Job description

Job Description

Zephyr Cove Resort, Adventure Mountain and Lake Tahoe Adventures are the best of both worlds: the beauty of a pristine mountain lake setting combined with the thrill of new adventures. On the South Shore of Lake Tahoe, the sky is the limit for what you can see and do: enjoy a hike along lakeview trails, relax on the beach, or enjoy a show at the theater after an afternoon shopping trip. Only one hour from Reno, Lake Tahoe is easily accessible, and above all, it offers a fabulous escape from the world below.

This is a remote position. Candidates ideally will be located in the Western United States and within a reasonable driving distance of a major airport. Monthly travel to assigned locations is required (approximately one trip per month).

Aramark Destinations has an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager overseeing the Lake Tahoe District.  In this role, the successful candidate will:

Job Responsibilities
  • Partner with one or more General Managers and other business leaders to identify financial risks and opportunities, make recommendations, and drive positive financial outcomes.
  • Manage a team of Finance professionals, providing direction and support as needed.  Develop team members for career growth and succession planning by providing training, coaching, and feedback.
  • Oversee and ensure successful completion of Daily & Weekly Reporting, Month-End Close, Monthly Forecast, CAPEX Planning & Spend, Annual Operating Plan, Client Deliverables, A/P, A/R, Cash & Banking, and assigned Tax & Compliance tasks, for all assigned properties.
  • Travel monthly to assigned locations, to better understand operations, build and sustain relationships, and provide visibility/face time/support, including meeting with clients to strengthen relationships and ensure contract compliance and deliverables.
  • Accommodate internal and external auditors.
  • Ensure proper internal controls to support SOX compliance.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
  • Any ad hoc duties that may arise

Note: Due to the nature of the business additional duties may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting, business or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience, including experience managing direct reports
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, and comfort in learning new accounting and finance systems
  • High level of comfort with frequent change in a fast-paced environment
  • Desire and drive to strategically partner with non-finance team members and drive financial results
