Consumer Retail Manager
Product Strategy | Consumer Retail Finance

Location: Remote

Yanmar America is seeking a Consumer Retail Manager to serve as the business owner and subject matter expert for all Consumer Retail finance products. This strategic role is responsible for leading the feasibility analysis, development, launch, and ongoing optimization of YAF’s Consumer Retail programs.

This position plays a critical role in shaping YAF’s consumer finance strategy, supporting the Consumer Retail launch, and providing expert guidance across product development, compliance, systems, and field support.


Position Summary

The Consumer Retail Manager is the business owner and subject matter expert for all Consumer Retail finance products within Yanmar America Finance. This role is responsible for evaluating the feasibility of consumer programs, designing and launching new products, supporting existing retail efforts, and serving as the primary expert resource during the planning and implementation of the Consumer Retail launch.

This position works closely with senior leadership and cross-functional partners to ensure that consumer finance products are strategically sound, compliant, operationally scalable, and aligned with YAF’s growth objectives and risk appetite.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Feasibility amp; Business Case

  • Lead the development and ongoing validation of the business case for Consumer Retail finance.

  • Assess market opportunities, competitive positioning, and financial feasibility.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decision-making.

Product amp; Program Development

  • Design and own the full suite of Consumer Retail finance programs, including rate plans, product terms, promotional offers, and eligibility criteria.

  • Ensure programs align with Yanmar business objectives, credit strategy, and risk tolerance.

  • Oversee ongoing program enhancements and lifecycle management.

Subject Matter Expertise (SME)

  • Serve as the definitive business SME for Consumer Retail lending.

  • Provide expert input on system requirements, underwriting policies, compliance standards, and operational workflows.

  • Advise leadership and project teams on best practices in consumer lending.

Project Management amp; Launch Support

  • Support the YAF Project Team with planning, process documentation, vendor evaluation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for the Consumer Retail launch.

  • Partner with IT, operations, credit, and vendors to ensure successful system implementation and readiness.

Sales amp; Field Support

  • Serve as the product expert for Dealer Sales Representatives.

  • Provide guidance on complex consumer lending scenarios.

  • Develop and support training materials related to consumer programs and compliance.

Performance amp; Optimization

  • Track, analyze, and report on the performance of Consumer Retail programs, both pre-YAF and YAF-managed.

  • Recommend data-driven adjustments to improve profitability, volume, credit quality, and portfolio performance.

Compliance amp; Regulatory Oversight

  • Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to ensure all Consumer Retail products, documents, and disclosures comply with federal and state lending regulations.

  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact on existing and future programs.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Expert-level knowledge of Consumer Retail Lending and automated credit decisioning

  • Strong strategic and analytical skills with the ability to build and evaluate detailed financial models

  • Experience designing, launching, and managing consumer finance products or programs

  • Deep understanding of consumer lending regulations, including Reg B, TILA, and FCRA

  • Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills across sales, finance, credit, IT, and leadership teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related quantitative field

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in Consumer Retail or Point-of-Sale (POS) finance, with significant experience in product development, program management, lending operations, or lending leadership

  • Proven experience serving as a business SME on large-scale Loan Origination System (LOS) implementations or major system upgrade projects

  • Familiarity with the dealer-based distribution model is highly desirable
