Job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what's next.
The Creative Compute & Storage team is building the next generation of media management platforms to support Netflix's expanding live and sports content. We are looking for a Senior Systems Development Engineerwith deep Media Asset Management (MAM) experience to help build and operate our Live MAM platform, which underpins our ingest, management, and reuse of live media at scale.
In this role, you will design, integrate, and automate the core services that connect a third-party MAMto Netflix's hybrid on-prem/AWS environments and end to endcontent workflows. You'll focus on systems architecture, reliability, and tooling, building theintegration layer between third-party MAM applications and Netflix core servicesto make live media workflows scalable, observable, and resilient.
What you will do
  • Design, build, and automate systems and services that power the Live MAM platform (e.g., ingest orchestration, media/metadata normalization, rights-aware services, timecode-driven workflows).
  • Build and maintain integration services that sit between third-party MAM applications and Netflix core software services, ensuring secure, reliable, and well-governed data and control flows.
  • Integrate and operationalize a third-party MAM within Netflix's hybrid infrastructure, ensuring coherent, reliable media and metadata flows across on-prem and cloud systems.
  • Define and implement robust data and systems modelsfor live media assets, metadata, rights and restrictions, and time-aligned events, with a focus on performance, reliability, and operability.
  • Develop infrastructure, tooling, and automation for deployment, configuration management, and lifecycle management of MAM-related services and integration components.
  • Improve observability and reliabilityby building monitoring, logging, alerting, and tracing for time-critical live workflows; drive incident response, postmortems, and long-term remediation.
  • Collaborate across engineering, production, operations, and vendor teams to deliver end-to-end live and near-live workflows, ensuring systems are scalable, supportable, and well-documented.
  • Work with AI/ML teams and servicesto integrate automated tagging, indexing, and enrichment into the MAM ecosystem in a reliable, scalable way.
  • Own systems in production, including capacity planning, performance tuning, resiliency design (failover, redundancy, DR), and participation in on-call rotations for live workflows.

About you
  • 5+ years of experience building, integrating, and operating large-scale systems or platform services in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Media Asset Management (MAM) platforms is required, including design, integration, and day-to-day operation in production.
  • Strong foundation in distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and systems design (scalability, resiliency, consistency).
  • Proven experience with integrating third-party MAM systems into in-house infrastructure and workflows at scale.
  • Comfortable working in a hybrid cloud + on-prem environment; able to reason about large-scale storage, transcoding, networking, and messaging systems.
  • Platform and systems mindset: you design reusable components, integration layers, automation, and clear service boundaries to support multiple internal customers.
  • Care deeply about reliability, observability, and operational excellence, especially for time-sensitive live workflows.
  • Strong collaborator who can work effectively with engineering, product, operations, and vendor partners.
  • Self-directed, pragmatic, and comfortable operating with freedom and responsibility.

Bonus / Nice to Have
  • Experience with live sports media workflows or Live Sports MAM (e.g., multi-feed ingest, melts/highlights, sports-specific metadata and stats integration).
  • Prior work integrating and operationalizing vendor MAM systemswithin in-house media infrastructure at scale.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and configuration management(e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Salt, Ansible, or similar) for complex, hybrid systems.
