What is paid media?

Paid media refers to any form of online advertising that a company pays for to promote its products, services, or brand. This includes channels such as search engine ads (like Google Ads), social media advertising (on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn), display ads, and sponsored content. Paid media is used to reach target audiences quickly, drive traffic, generate leads, and boost brand visibility. It is often part of a broader digital marketing strategy that may also include earned and owned media.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a paid media specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Paid Media Specialist, you need expertise in digital marketing strategies, campaign management, and data analysis, often supported by a marketing degree or relevant certifications like Google Ads or Facebook Blueprint. Proficiency in platforms such as Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and analytics tools like Google Analytics is crucial. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication help you optimize campaigns and collaborate with stakeholders. These skills ensure campaigns are cost-effective, results-driven, and aligned with business objectives in a fast-paced digital landscape.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in paid media roles, and how can they overcome them?

Paid Media professionals often face challenges such as keeping up with rapidly changing advertising platforms, managing multiple campaigns simultaneously, and demonstrating clear ROI to stakeholders. Staying current with platform updates (like Google Ads or Meta Ads), leveraging automation tools, and regularly analyzing campaign data can help address these hurdles. Collaboration with creative teams, data analysts, and account managers is also crucial for optimizing performance and ensuring campaigns align with broader marketing goals.

Job description

GO Media is looking for a Paid Media Manager to plan, execute, and optimize paid advertising campaigns for a portfolio of agency clients. You'll own day-to-day performance across search and social platforms - Google Ads, Meta (Facebook & Instagram), LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and other emerging channels - building full-funnel strategies that move clients from awareness through lead generation and revenue growth. This role reports to the Digital Lead and works closely with account management and creative teams. You're not brand-new to paid media: you've run campaigns before, you know your way around Google Analytics, and you're ready to bring that experience to a fast-paced agency environment managing multiple client accounts at once.
What You'll Do
โ€ข Strategize, build, launch, and manage paid media campaigns across Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and other platforms as client needs require.
โ€ข Develop full-funnel paid media strategies that support awareness, engagement, lead generation, and revenue goals for each client.
โ€ข Own campaign performance for multiple client accounts simultaneously - pacing budgets, adjusting bids, and reallocating spend to hit each client's goals.
โ€ข Structure campaigns using modern best practices, including automated/algorithm-friendly campaign types (e.g., Google Performance Max, Meta Advantage+) and smart budget allocation.
โ€ข Conduct keyword, audience, and competitive research to inform targeting and campaign strategy.
โ€ข Build and execute structured testing roadmaps spanning creative, audience, and landing page tests to identify high-performing messaging and formats.
โ€ข Leverage AI-powered campaign features, automation tools, and platform optimization models to improve performance at scale.
โ€ข Use Google Analytics (GA4) as a primary tool to analyze performance data, diagnose underperformance, and identify opportunities to improve KPIs (CPA, CPL, ROAS, CTR, conversion rate, etc.).
โ€ข Build client-ready performance summaries, and communicate insights and recommendations to account managers and clients.
โ€ข Stay current on platform updates and industry best practices, and proactively recommend new tactics or channels.
โ€ข Partner with the Digital Lead on account strategy, forecasting, and budget planning.
Who we are
At GO Media, we specialize in driving growth for leading practices in orthodontics, aesthetics, and wellness. You'll be part of a forward-thinking team that values innovation, creative excellence, and client success.
Requirements
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Analytics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
โ€ข 3-5+ years of hands-on experience managing paid search and paid social campaigns; agency experience strongly preferred.
โ€ข Demonstrated expertise in Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager, including campaign structure, bidding strategies, and audience targeting.
โ€ข Working experience with LinkedIn and/or YouTube advertising.
โ€ข Advanced proficiency in Google Analytics (GA4) - comfortable building reports, segments, and pulling insights independently.
โ€ข Familiarity with modern attribution models and cross-channel measurement.
โ€ข Experience managing multiple client accounts and budgets at the same time without dropping details.
โ€ข Clear written and verbal communication skills; able to explain performance data to non-technical stakeholders.
โ€ข Exposure to landing page optimization and CRO best practices.
