What is paid media?

Paid media refers to any form of online advertising that a company pays for to promote its products, services, or brand. This includes channels such as search engine ads (like Google Ads), social media advertising (on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn), display ads, and sponsored content. Paid media is used to reach target audiences quickly, drive traffic, generate leads, and boost brand visibility. It is often part of a broader digital marketing strategy that may also include earned and owned media.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a paid media specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Paid Media Specialist, you need expertise in digital marketing strategies, campaign management, and data analysis, often supported by a marketing degree or relevant certifications like Google Ads or Facebook Blueprint. Proficiency in platforms such as Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, and analytics tools like Google Analytics is crucial. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication help you optimize campaigns and collaborate with stakeholders. These skills ensure campaigns are cost-effective, results-driven, and aligned with business objectives in a fast-paced digital landscape.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in paid media roles, and how can they overcome them?

Paid Media professionals often face challenges such as keeping up with rapidly changing advertising platforms, managing multiple campaigns simultaneously, and demonstrating clear ROI to stakeholders. Staying current with platform updates (like Google Ads or Meta Ads), leveraging automation tools, and regularly analyzing campaign data can help address these hurdles. Collaboration with creative teams, data analysts, and account managers is also crucial for optimizing performance and ensuring campaigns align with broader marketing goals.

Job description

About Fundraise Up

We're Fundraise Up - a global fundraising platform built to make donating to nonprofits fast, seamless, and accessible to all. Every month, our technology powers tens of millions of dollars in donations across the globe. We focus on innovation that directly impacts results: faster load times, higher conversion rates, global payment support, and accessibility-first design.

Our platform is trusted by many of the world's leading nonprofits, including UNICEF, the Alzheimer's Association, and a wide range of global NGOs. With a 4.9/5 rating across top software review platforms, we're recognized not just for our impact - but for the quality of the product we deliver.

About The Role

We're looking for a Paid Media Manager to own Fundraise Up's paid digital acquisition program across paid search and paid social. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with end-to-end responsibility for channel strategy, campaign execution, budget stewardship, experimentation, and performance reporting.

Reporting to the Director of Revenue Marketing, you will translate company growth goals into an integrated paid media roadmap that supports enterprise and account-based go-to-market motions. You will decide how to deploy spend across Google Ads, LinkedIn, and Meta/Instagram; connect ad performance to the full buyer journey; and turn campaign and pipeline data into clear recommendations for Marketing, Sales, and Revenue Operations.

We're building a rigorous testing culture in paid media. You'll set the experimentation agenda, identify where the program can improve, and ensure insights from paid media strengthen decisions across content, creative, events, lifecycle, and account-based marketing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the paid media strategy and operating plan across Google Ads, LinkedIn, and Meta/Instagram, including channel mix, audience strategy, budget allocation, campaign architecture, and performance targets.
  • Translate pipeline and revenue goals into quarterly and monthly paid media plans, with clear assumptions, forecasts, milestones, and success measures.
  • Manage campaigns end to end: build, launch, optimize, and scale paid search and paid social programs while maintaining strong naming, tracking, targeting, and budget controls.
  • Own budget pacing and performance management; identify risks and opportunities early, reallocate spend based on evidence, and communicate the expected business impact of changes.
  • Develop and lead a structured experimentation roadmap across creative, copy, formats, bids, audiences, channels, offers, and landing pages; document hypotheses, results, and next actions.
  • Evaluate the full conversion journey from impression through pipeline, not just platform metrics, and recommend improvements to landing pages, forms, messaging, and follow-up experiences.
  • Build weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting that connects spend and channel performance to qualified pipeline, account engagement, conversion, and revenue outcomes.
  • Partner with Revenue Operations to improve attribution, lead routing, source tracking, and data quality across ad platforms, HubSpot, and Salesforce.
  • Partner with the ABM Manager to translate priority account lists into paid targeting strategies and coordinated account-based campaigns.
  • Brief and collaborate with Design, Content, Events, and Lifecycle Marketing on creative and campaign assets, using performance data to provide clear, actionable feedback.
  • Lead event-targeted, geo-fencing, retargeting, and integrated campaign programs tied to key conferences, content launches, and Fundraise Up-hosted events.
  • Establish and improve paid media playbooks, dashboards, testing logs, quality controls, and workflows so the program scales effectively.
  • Stay current on platform, privacy, measurement, and market changes; assess their relevance and recommend how Fundraise Up should respond.
  • Use AI as a default part of the work to accelerate analysis, reporting, copy development, audience research, test design, and operational efficiency while applying sound judgment and quality control.
Skills and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on paid media experience, including direct in-platform ownership of Google Ads and LinkedIn Campaign Manager; experience with Meta/Instagram is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a paid media program or major channel, including strategy, execution, budget management, forecasting, optimization, and reporting.
  • Strong command of paid search fundamentals, including keyword strategy, match types, campaign and ad-group structure, Quality Score, bidding strategies, and conversion tracking.
  • Strong working knowledge of LinkedIn paid social, including Sponsored Content, Lead Gen Forms, job and company targeting, matched audiences, and account-list activation.
  • Experience connecting media performance to downstream funnel outcomes such as qualified leads, opportunities, pipeline, and revenue.
  • Experience designing structured experiments and translating findings into decisions, not just observations.
  • Experience with UTM governance, attribution, and the flow of campaign-source data through a marketing automation platform and CRM; HubSpot and Salesforce experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical judgment and the ability to turn complex data into clear recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing initiatives, and make sound decisions in an evolving environment.
Compensation
  • The compensation range for this is $110,000 - $120,000 OTE (On-Target Earnings)
  • Final compensation will be determined based upon relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and alignment with the role's requirements and location.
Perks & Benefits
  • Health, Dental, and Vision insurance covered at 100% for employees, 80% for employee plus dependents, and 70% for employees plus family.
  • FSA and HSA Spending Account.
  • 20 days of vacation, 5 sick days, 11 company holidays plus an additional 1 floating holiday.
  • 401(k) plan with company match.
  • 100% Company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, basic life insurance and AD&D.
  • Paid parental leave (12 weeks for primary caregivers / 6 weeks for secondary caregivers).
  • Generous home office stipend to support your remote workspace.
  • Annual professional development stipend to support your growth (e.g., workshops, courses, and seminars).
  • Charitable giving program and paid volunteer time off with registered non-profits.
