Job description

The Opportunity:

Revolution Medicines is seeking a Tax Manager to support our growing Finance team.  Reporting to the Associate Director of Tax, the Tax Manager will manage key components of the global tax compliance and reporting function, with a strong mix of international and domestic responsibilities across direct and indirect tax matters. This role can be based out of our headquarters in Redwood City, CA, or remote with occasional travel to headquarters as needed.

Core Responsibilities Include:

International Tax Matters

  • Manage global VAT/GST compliance, audits, and refund initiatives, including data validation, documentation, and process improvements.

  • Manage international tax provision and compliance processes, including review of advisor-prepared work, provision-to-return analyses, SOX controls, and foreign tax packages.

  • Manage key aspects of transfer pricing compliance, including intercompany charges, agreements, benchmarking, and annual documentation.

  • Partner with internal teams and external advisors on foreign tax audits, tax authority inquiries, and international tax reporting.

Domestic Tax Matters

  • Manage key components of ASC 740 tax provision calculations, SEC disclosures, and quarterly and annual tax reporting, including R&D and orphan drug tax credits, Section 174 analyses, and related calculations and documentation.

  • Manage U.S. federal and state income tax compliance processes, including coordination and review of externally prepared returns.

  • Manage sales and use tax compliance, audits, and exemption certificate processes.

  • Perform ad hoc projects as assigned.

Required Skills, Experience and Education: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or related field; CPA or MST (preferred).

  • 6+ years of experience, including 4+ years in public accounting or life sciences industry.

  • Demonstrated experience managing international tax compliance, including VAT, across multiple jurisdictions, including coordination of external advisors.

  • Strong experience with ASC 740 and multinational tax compliance, including US international tax reporting of foreign operations.

  • Hands-on experience with VAT/GST compliance, reporting, audits, and refund recovery processes.

  • High-integrity self-starter with strong execution, urgency, and follow-through in a fast-paced environment. Strong planning, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Must be willing to embrace a hands-on role, with no project too big or small to own, an all-hands-on-deck and 'company-first' mentality, and enthusiasm for both horizontal and vertical growth.

  • Serve as a key tax business partner to Accounting, Finance, and other cross-functional teams on domestic and international tax matters.

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Resourceful, creative problem-solver that effectively communicates and presents information (written, orally and via presentation), works collaboratively with key stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:
