• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying specific psychological and emotional needs.
• Deliver individual and group counseling sessions focusing on emotional challenges stemming from aging processes, loss, and significant life transitions.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to create personalized and thorough care plans for geriatric residents.
• Educate family members and staff on methods to promote the emotional well-being and quality of life for elderly individuals.
• Provide grief and loss counseling for residents and their families who are navigating end-of-life concerns.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs and mental health interventions that enhance cognitive abilities and promote mental engagement among elderly clients.

This position primarily serves the elderly population, offering mental health counseling tailored to their distinctive needs. The ideal candidate understands the complexities of addiction, grief, and the transitional experiences that older adults encounter. You will foster therapeutic relationships that prioritize the dignity and respect of each client, recognizing their individual stories and cultural backgrounds.

• A Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Possession of a valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of 4 years of recent experience in counseling, specifically within geriatric mental health support.
• Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based mental health interventions applicable to the elderly population.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with elderly individuals and their families.
• Empathy and cultural sensitivity are essential to address the diverse backgrounds of clients.
• Ability to conduct thorough, individualized assessments and create tailored treatment plans.
• Knowledge of ethical and legal standards specific to geriatric mental health counseling practices.

• Additional training or certifications in geriatric mental health, addiction counseling, or aging-related issues.
• Experience with community health resources and support systems relevant to older adults.
• Track record of implementing interventions that focus on mental acuity and emotional resilience in clients aged 65 and older.

The compensation for this position ranges from USD 65,000 to 95,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with a competitive sign-on bonus.
