Lutheran Counseling Services, PC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) to join our remote team, supporting the mental health needs of our elderly population in Tallahassee, Florida. This role is entirely remote, offering the flexibility of a work-from-home arrangement while allowing the counselor to connect meaningfully with clients. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, enabling consistent engagement with clients and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments for elderly clients, identifying individual care needs and formulating tailored treatment plans.
• Deliver both individual and group therapy sessions to assist seniors in navigating emotional challenges, including grief, anxiety, and adjustment issues related to aging.
• Collaborate proactively with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals to design comprehensive care plans that holistically address the psychological and emotional needs of geriatric residents.
• Educate caregivers and family members on strategies that enhance the quality of life and emotional well-being of elderly patients, fostering an empathetic support system.
• Facilitate grief counseling for residents and their families experiencing loss and end-of-life transitions, providing compassionate support during critical times.
• Implement cognitive stimulation and therapeutic interventions that promote mental acuity, encouraging continuous engagement in stimulating activities.

The primary focus of this role will be on the geriatric population, which includes elderly individuals coping with loss, life transitions, and age-related mental health conditions. Our commitment is to approach each client with the utmost respect and understanding, recognizing the distinct challenges they encounter such as depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline.

• Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• A minimum of 4 years of post-licensure experience specifically in geriatric mental health counseling.
• Proven ability to deliver culturally competent mental health services, demonstrating understanding in working with diverse populations.
• Strong analytical skills to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop effective treatment interventions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong rapport with elderly clients and their families.
• Familiarity with ethical and legal standards in geriatric mental health care.

• Additional training in geriatric mental health, including specialization in dementia, bereavement, or other aging-related conditions.
• Experience utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) tailored to older adults.
• A track record of successfully collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in clinical settings.
