What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote litigation funding roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote litigation funding often encounter challenges such as maintaining effective communication with clients and legal teams across different time zones, ensuring the secure handling of sensitive case information, and staying updated on case progress from a distance. To address these challenges, it's important to establish clear communication protocols, use secure document management systems, and schedule regular check-ins. Building strong relationships with both attorneys and clients, even remotely, helps ensure smooth collaboration and successful case outcomes.

To thrive in Remote Litigation Funding, you need a strong background in finance, legal analysis, and risk assessment, often supported by a degree in law, finance, or business. Familiarity with case management software, financial modeling tools, and secure digital communication platforms is essential. Exceptional negotiation, analytical thinking, and relationship-building skills set top professionals apart in this field. These skills are crucial to accurately evaluate cases, manage investments remotely, and maintain effective client and partner relationships for successful funding outcomes.

What is remote litigation funding?

Remote litigation funding is a financial service that provides funds to plaintiffs or law firms to cover legal costs and expenses in exchange for a portion of any settlement or award. The process is managed online or remotely, allowing applicants to submit documentation and communicate with funders without face-to-face meetings. This can help individuals or firms pursue legal claims they might not otherwise afford, while the funder assumes the risk if the case is lost. Remote litigation funding has become increasingly popular due to advancements in digital communication and the need for convenient, accessible funding options.

Description
For over 50 years, Bet Tzedek Legal Services has provided high-quality, free legal services to Los Angeles' most vulnerable residents. In that tradition, Bet Tzedek is seeking a post-graduate law fellow to join our Eviction Defense Project (EDP). The project fights to eliminate homelessness by providing litigation-based direct services to residential tenants in Los Angeles County facing eviction or other rental housing disputes. EDP is part of the Right to Counsel Coalition and Stay Housed L.A. initiative.
The law fellowship will be a two-year program focused on teaching a new attorney how to litigate in civil court on behalf of tenants, with the opportunity for eligible fellows to apply for open attorney positions towards the end of the fellowship. The salary extended is dependent on the candidate's bar admittance status at the time an offer of employment is provided.
This position is eligible for Bet Tzedek Legal Services' hybrid/remote workplace designation. While the primary workplace is Bet Tzedek's offices, at the discretion of the immediate supervisor, the employee may be permitted to work remotely or may be required to work in other locations depending on workload/business obligations Candidates must be located in the Southern California region and able to commute if needed.
