Job Summary: The Commercial Estimator is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications to prepare accurate material takeoffs, cost estimates, and scopes of work. This role works closely with the sales team to develop and present competitive estimate packages while ensuring accuracy and exceptional customer service.

Work Arrangement: This position is based in Cheyenne, WY. While onsite work is preferred, hybrid remote work may be considered for the right candidate. Periodic travel to the Cheyenne facility, job sites, and training events is required.

Pay for this Role: $75,000 - $125,000 depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review blueprints, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate material, labor, and cost estimates.
  • Develop detailed bids, takeoffs, and estimate packages while ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Evaluate material and labor requirements to identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to develop estimates and resolve project-related issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, subcontractors, general contractors, and customers.
  • Partner with Outside Sales Representatives and General Contractors to review project specifications, scope, and requirements.
  • Prepare and manage project submittals, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Coordinate with sales, customers, and subcontractors to meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues to support successful project execution.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma, GED, or Associate’s degree required.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in the lumber and/or building materials industry.
  • Estimating experience required.
  • Rough carpentry, project supervision, or project management experience preferred.
  • Certificates of completion in blueprint reading and estimating preferred.
  • Proficiency with industry and supplier software applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • CAD and BIM experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
