Summary of Job Duties:The University of Arkansas Grantham is looking for a REMOTE Associate Vice Chancellor, Student Financial Services in the following states: AL, AR, AZ, DE, FL, GA, KS, IA, ID, IN, KY, LA, MD, MI, MO, MS, NC, NE, NJ, OH, OK, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI and WY.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position oversees Student Financial Services, which includes Financial Aid and Student Accounts. The Associate Vice Chancellor, Student Financial Services is charged with the oversight of the Financial Aid and Student Accounts departments to ensure support of students throughout the funding process. This is a supervisory role.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
30%Operational Management
Establish and oversee Student Financial Services protocols within the university
Ensure the expeditious processing of student funding for UA Grantham students in a legally compliant and ethical manner
Ensure accuracy and integrity of the student accounts receivable portfolio
Monitor & maintain electronic data entry, retrieval & reconciliations
Other duties as assigned
20%People Management
Define team priorities, deliverables, timelines, and performance standards
Ensure direct reports have well-defined responsibilities, documented procedures, and required resources
Manage performance using metrics, clear expectations, and standardized policy application
Provide training, tools, and clear processes while monitoring progress and adjusting resources as needed
25%Internal Control and Compliance
Oversee the administration of all student funding programs, including compliance audits/reviews
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations, as well as institutional policies pertaining to student enrollment, Federal Student Aid, Veterans Administration and Department of Defense eligibility
20%Stakeholder Engagement
Coordinate with the Controller to ensure proper disbursements and reconciliation of funds to students
Collaborate effectively with other members of the university
Maintain relationships and interact with outside agencies
5%Continuous Learning and Development
Continuously update skills and knowledge through required training
Seek feedback and opportunities for growth to enhance expertise and effectiveness
Qualifications:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in student funding-related area required
  • Experience managing one or more Financial Aid programs within a four-year institution preferred
  • Experience managing a team in a remote environment preferred

SKILLS:

  • Thorough knowledge of Title IV regulations required
  • Experience with Student Information System (SIS) configuration is preferred
  • Experience with public institution operations is preferred
  • Experience with borrower based (vs. term based) systems is preferred
  • Experience with refund issues
  • Hands on knowledge of crossover awarding
  • Ability to interact with all levels of individuals involved in student funding process
  • Ability to train staff
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, required
  • Research skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Language Skills: Able to read, analyze, and interpret common journals and legal documents. Able to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Able to effectively present information to executive management, faculty, staff, and/or students.
  • Mathematical Skill: Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to present facts to faculty for departmental response. Able to deal with a variety of information presented in oral or written formats. Able to deal with non-verbal behavior in assisting with problem resolution.
