Job description

Staffing Solutions Engineer
100% Remote + 50% Travel
Help build a new outsourcing capability by designing, pricing, and launching performance-based labor solutions.
Who We Are
As the United States' largest light industrial staffing company and a broad workforce solutions provider, our digital-enabled approach to staffing is rooted in a rich history of delivering high-quality, scalable workforce solutions to the organizations driving the American supply chain. Our colleagues are guided by our purpose of Championing People, Unlocking Potential, and they bring this to life every day as they help put hundreds of thousands of people to work at thousands of companies across the country. The foundation of our culture is built upon a bridge to better, offering our colleagues rewarding and growth-oriented experiences that positively impact the lives of others and businesses in innovative and meaningful ways.
Job Summary
The Staffing Solutions Engineer will serve as the technical lead for complex Cost per Unit and Statement of Work labor solutions, from the initial high-stakes pricing and solution design to large-scale implementation and multi-site continuous improvement across a diverse client portfolio. A "consultative engineer" with a "boots on the ground" approach that can walk a production floor, identify the bottleneck in an operation, and translate that into a profitable, scalable solution design. This role will bridge the gap between engineering efficiency and labor profitability ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining healthy margins.
Role & Responsibilities
Solution Design & Pricing
  • Construct CPU and SOW pricing models for industries including but not limited to E-commerce, Distribution, Manufacturing, Kitting, and Assembly operations, using client production data, on-site observations and time studies, as well as industry experience and best practices.

  • Conduct on-site time studies and work sampling to set baselines.

  • Build financial models that balance labor costs, overhead, risk, and improvement opportunity.

  • Draft Technical Solution Documents (TSDs) for sales proposals.

  • Lead diagnostic client site walks to assess operational maturity, risk, and potential improvement opportunity.

  • Align engineered labor standards with commercial profitability targets.

  • Present technical solution proposals to internal stakeholders and client executives, in partnership with Operations and Sales resources

Implementation
  • Lead the transition from hourly billing to output-based models.

  • Design facility layouts and optimized workflows for new projects.

  • Standardize Operating Procedures (SOPs) for site leadership.

  • Implement visual management tools and KPI tracking dashboards.

  • Direct the "Go-Live" phase for new CPU contracts across client sites.

  • Establish robust governance models for tracking real-time production vs. plan.

  • Mentor colleague site managers on output-based operational rigor and best practices to achieve business objectives.

Continuous Improvement
  • Audit existing CPU/SOW accounts to identify margin erosion.

  • Apply Lean Six Sigma tools to eliminate process waste.

  • As needed, re-engineer workflows to offset rising labor or supply costs.

  • Identify and remediate underperforming accounts through deep-dive data forensics.

  • Drive standardized Lean initiatives across client sites.

  • Leverage advanced simulation or modeling to predict the impact of volume surges.

  • Lead cross-functional teams in high-impact Kaizen events to protect margins, and improve throughput and quality.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • 7+ years of IE experience, specifically within third-party logistics (3PL), distribution centers, manufacturing, order fulfillment or managed workforce solutions.

  • BS in Industrial Engineering (MS or MBA preferred); Lean Six Sigma, Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PM), Toyota Production System (TPS).

  • Track record of documented ROI through CI initiatives

  • Strong understanding and implementation of Lean 5s and Six Sigma methodologies

Competencies (Skills and Knowledge)
  • Expert-level MS Excel (VBA/Macros preferred).

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and data visualization (Tableau/Power BI).

  • Expert-level of MOST, MTM, or other predetermined motion time systems.

  • High degree of margin accuracy.

  • Ability to explain complex engineering data and processes to non-technical internal stakeholders and clients.

  • Advanced proficiency in Predetermined Motion Time Systems (PMTS) and labor management software.
