Position Description: The Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Test Engineer assesses software quality through both manual and automated testing and works with developers, end users, and organizations to create test plans and test scripts. This position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Minimum/General Experience: 4 years of manual and automation software testing experience
Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
  • Excellent experience developing and executing manual and automated test scripts
  • Excellent experience building test plans
  • Above average experience with the Agile methodology and sprint-based testing cycles
  • Above average experience identifying, documenting, and tracking software defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira)
  • Above average experience creating and maintaining detailed test documentation and reports
  • Experience with Selenium Test
  • Experience working with developers and other members of a software development team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail skills
  • Experience supporting a federal government department
  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (preferred)

General Physical Requirements needed to perform the essential functions of this job may vary based on the location of the assignment.
  • Assignment Location - Remote
  • Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • Typing, communicating, repetitive motions.
  • Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze data, view computer monitors and read. May need to view presentation screens and other visual aids in a virtual setting.
  • Inside environmental conditions with protection from outside elements.

Security: Ability to obtain/maintain a Federal Civilian Public Trust
  • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident that has lived in the United States for at least 3 years

Tasks/activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Reviews and analyzes system specifications
  • Collaborates with Business Analysts, Test Engineers and Test Planners/Managers to develop effective test strategies, test plans, and procedures
  • Executes manual and automated test cases and analyzes results
  • Evaluates product code according to specifications
  • Creates logs to document testing phases and defects and confirms that requirements are verified and validated
  • Reports bugs and errors to development teams
  • Helps troubleshoot issues
  • Conducts post-release/post-implementation testing
  • Works with cross-functional teams and ensures quality throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Configures necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing
  • Manages the defect database and/or logs

Compensation & Benefits: The annual projected pay range for this position is $76,559.55 - $85,066.17 with consideration being given to various factors including but not limited to qualifications, experience, job responsibilities, and geographic location.
