Job description

Patton Trial Group is seeking experienced insurance defense attorneys. We are an 18-attorney full-service litigation firm specializing in the defense of personal injury matters, product liability, professional liability, construction defect, and business/commercial litigation.
With a main office in Ontario, we cover most of California with multiple attorneys working remotely across the state. 
We are seeking to add experienced attorneys to support our expanding caseload and growing clientele. The attorneys would be responsible for their own caseloads, reviewing documents/discovery, taking depositions, retaining and consulting with experts, attending court hearings, reporting to clients, and preparing for trial. We also offer interested attorneys the opportunity to second-chair trials with the possibility of progressing to leading trials of their own.
Ideally, the candidate will have 5 - 20 years of prior experience in Personal Injury, enabling them to step in and contribute immediately.
Primary responsibilities would include:
  • Initial File Review, drafting initial evaluations and discovery plans • Deposing and defending party depositions • Working with paralegals on obtaining, reviewing and summarizing medical records • Maintaining contact with clients and reporting • Retaining and consulting with expert witnesses • Taking and defending expert witness depositions • Legal research and memoranda when necessary • Preparing Trial Documents • Second Chair, and potential First Chair Trial experience possible to interested candidates (but not necessary)
Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • Active California State Bar license 
  • Previous experience with insurance defense law preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Discovery Rules and general procedures
  • Effectiveness in working both independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent client relations
  • Timely reporting
  • Comfortable handling depositions and court appearances
  • Ability to manage deadlines and proactively move cases forward
  • Familiarity with carrier guidelines is a plus
