Job description

As part of the Dev Services team, the Systems Engineer will focus on the automation of building and configuring infrastructure as well as system test activities.

The responsibilities of the Systems Engineer, Associate Principal include, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Design, Build and Deliver complex compute and network topology environments in collaboration with supported teams
  • Designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for enhancements and new products.
  • Develop software and tools in support of design for infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based and Internet-related tools.
  • Determines software/hardware compatibility and/or influences software/hardware design through collaboration across the project team consisting of developers, architects, executive leaders and other project resources.
  • Create automation and environment management strategies of deploying and configuring Linux systems to specifications of application performance requirements.

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • 7-10 years industry experience
  • Infrastructure Build and Configuration Automation using tools such as Ansible.
  • Scripting/Coding using Bash, Python, etc.
  • Mastery of deploying and configuring Linux Operating Systems
  • Experience creating and maintaining VM hypervisor infrastructure.
  • General knowledge with Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher
  • Build pipeline automation and packaging using tools such as Jenkins and Nexus
  • General cloud knowledge in AWS or Azure
  • Basic understanding of VLANs, firewalls (iptables), switching (trunk/access), tunneling and air-gapping
  • Familiarity with working in an Agile environment using Atlassian suite of tools such as JIRA and Confluence or some other similar collaboration tools

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Build pipeline automation using tools such as Atlassian Bamboo or Azure DevOps, Atlassian Bitbucket or GitHub or GitLab and JFrog Artifactory
  • Expert knowledge with Docker, Kubernetes, and Rancher
  • Monitor/Dashboarding experience using tools such as Grafana and Prometheus
  • Expert cloud knowledge in AWS or Azure
  • Knowledge with security tools in automated pipelines such as SonarQube, Hashicorp Vault, FOSSA, etc

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Salary Range: $140,000-$200,000
