Description

Job Summary:

The permit technician's job is to process applications for hauling permits for oversize/overweight vehicles.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Process applications for special hauling permits for oversize/overweight vehicles on state highway systems.
  2. With management approval, assign routes for movement of oversize/overweight vehicles.
  3. Respond to requests for insurance verification & routing beyond district perimeters.
  4. Communicate with company representatives regarding vehicle size & weight limits, permit issuance procedures, permit limitations, permit provisions, etc.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  1. Must have experience with all state permit systems
  2. Must have basic knowledgeable of oversize/overweight requirements for each state
  3. Must be familiar with multi-axle perimeter trailers and deck trailers
  4. Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with little direct supervision
  5. Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  6. Must be a problem solver who will utilize all available resources to exceed the customers' expectations
  7. Minimum of high school diploma required, College degree preferred
  8. Mi

Physical Demands and Essential Duties:

  1. Prolonged sitting (approximately 8-10 hours per day) in an office environment with the ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  2. The ability to communicate clearly and respectfully under pressure
  3. Ability to take phone calls after hours.


This position can be fully remote depending on applicant's experience.
