Job description

The Compensation Analyst is responsible for providing strategic guidance and tactical support in the design, administration, and delivery of compensation programs, processes, and systems that support the Company's talent and business objectives.

This role collects, analyzes, and maintains compensation-related data to support informed compensation decisions and help the organization attract and retain high-quality employees.

The successful candidate will set high standards of performance for themselves and others; demonstrate professionalism in written, verbal, and interpersonal interactions; seek opportunities for continuous learning and development; possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills; and effectively adapt their communication style to a variety of audiences and situations.

This role operates under the general direction of the Manager, Compensation and is responsible for planning and organizing assigned work activities to support departmental and organizational objectives. Work is reviewed periodically for accuracy, quality, and achievement of objectives.

Detailed Description:

  • Analyze job descriptions to benchmark positions against market data and internal job structures.

  • Review new job title requests for applicability and alignment with established job architecture.

  • Determine appropriate job grade placement and compensation range recommendations for new and revised positions.

  • Participate in compensation and salary surveys to support market pricing, salary structures, and compensation analyses.

  • Analyze market survey data and internal compensation reports to support compensation recommendations and compensation review requests.

  • Support annual compensation planning processes, including merit, promotion, and market adjustment reviews.

  • Prepare compensation reports, analyses, metrics, and presentations to support Human Resources and business leaders.

  • Review compensation data for accuracy and partner with HR to resolve discrepancies and maintain data integrity.

  • Support the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of compensation programs and processes.

  • Work with HR Business Partners and HR teams to support compensation-related projects and initiatives.

  • Create training materials and documentation related to compensation programs, processes, and tools.

  • Participate in ad hoc projects, perform analyses, and identify and track key compensation metrics.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong computer skills with the ability to run reports, perform data analysis, and prepare presentations. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting compensation programs and pay practices.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, solve practical problems, and develop business-oriented solutions.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make recommendations consistent with Company values, policies, and procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively speak, write, and listen to convey information clearly, facilitate decision-making, and build collaborative working relationships.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, handle sensitive employee information, and protect Company proprietary information.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources and/or Compensation experience, including at least 3 years in Compensation.

  • Experience with compensation principles, market pricing, job evaluation, and salary administration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Oil and Gas

  • Experience using Oracle HCM, including compensation-related modules

  • Experience supporting annual compensation planning and salary review processes

Additional Details:

Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone and other office equipment. Occasional travel to other Company offices and work sites, often in remote locations, is required during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather), and employee will be expected to properly use designated personal protective equipment (PPE).
