What is a remote global partnerships role?

Remote global partnerships roles involve building and managing relationships with organizations, businesses, or individuals across different countries, all while working from a remote location. Professionals in these roles identify collaboration opportunities, negotiate agreements, and coordinate joint initiatives without being physically present at a central office. These positions require strong communication skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to work across different time zones. The goal is to expand an organization's international presence and foster mutually beneficial relationships worldwide.

How does a remote global partnerships role typically collaborate with international teams and partners across different time zones?

In a Remote Global Partnerships role, collaboration with international teams and partners often involves coordinating virtual meetings, managing asynchronous communication, and using digital project management tools to stay aligned. Flexibility is key, as you may need to accommodate various time zones and cultural norms. Regular updates, clear documentation, and proactive communication help ensure everyone stays informed and engaged. Building strong relationships remotely also requires being mindful of language differences and fostering trust through consistent, transparent interactions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote global partnerships manager?

To thrive as a Remote Global Partnerships Manager, you need expertise in relationship management, international business development, and a background in business, marketing, or a related field. Drivetrain is on a mission to empower businesses to make better decisions. Our financial planning & decision-making platform helps companies scale and achieve their targets predictably.
Drivetrain is a remote-first company headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 2021 by a couple of ex-Googlers, Drivetrain is a fast-growing company on a trajectory for success with backing from leading venture capital firms.
Drivetrain provides a great culture for its employees to thrive in and be happy.
Remote-friendly: Drivetrain brings together the best and the brightest, no matter where they are and provides them a great degree of autonomy. We trust our people.
Open & transparent: We know that when our creators have access to all the information they need, their best work will emerge.
Idea-friendly: We provide an environment to explore new ideas, to take risks, to make mistakes, and to learn, so you can succeed. Anyone in the company can come up with great ideas and become a catalyst for positive change. We let the best ideas win.
Customer-centric: We follow a product-led growth strategy, continuously learning from our customers and collaborating to build the amazing software that Drivetrain is.
Our ideal Global Partnerships Manager is an entrepreneurial self-starter who will define and execute Drivetrain.ai's global partner strategy. You will collaborate closely with market and global leaders to build our partner ecosystem and drive partner-led sales.
You must have a proven track record of building and managing trusted relationships with strategic partners (including system integrators, fractional CFO networks, and consulting firms), developing robust pipelines, and consistently reaching or exceeding quota in a fast-paced SaaS environment.
What You Will Do
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute global partner business plans to achieve pipeline, revenue, delivery, and certification goals across various regions.
  • Ecosystem Expansion: Recruit, onboard, and manage strategic consulting and technology partners to expand Drivetrain.ai's market coverage and delivery capacity.
  • Joint Business Management: Build and maintain joint business plans with key partners, conducting regular business reviews and performance tracking to ensure mutual success.
  • Pipeline Generation: Drive revenue through joint account planning, co-marketing initiatives, opportunity registration, and partner-led sales motions.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Partner closely with internal Sales, Solution Consulting, Services, Marketing, and Partner Excellence teams to accelerate deal execution and drive customer success.
  • Internal Enablement: Educate internal field teams on partner capabilities, industry expertise, and engagement strategies to increase partner influence in sales cycles.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track partner health and performance by evaluating partner certifications, customer adoption, expansion metrics, engagement quality, and operational compliance.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Facilitate ongoing alignment through global territory planning, pipeline reviews, partner engagement strategies, and executive-level collaboration with sales leadership.
Who You Are
  • Experienced Professional: 6+ years of combined experience in alliance management, partner sales, technology sales, business development, or ecosystem consulting services.
  • Ecosystem Builder: A proven history of recruiting, signing, developing, managing, and significantly scaling partnerships between systems integrators and a B2B SaaS company.
  • Domain Expertise: Prior experience in the EPM (Enterprise Performance Management) or FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) space is highly preferred.
  • Strategic Go-To-Market Leader: Profound understanding of building and executing partner GTM strategies, incentive programs, enablement offerings, and success measures.
  • Relationship Master: Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, listening, and negotiating skills with a high comfort level working across cross-functional teams.
  • Autonomous Operator: Ability to manage a global book of business efficiently and autonomously through strong people and process management skills.
  • Deal Driver: Comfortable owning or supporting partner sales pursuits alongside multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Executive Presence: Strong communication skills, comfort presenting to leadership, and the ability to effectively manage up.
  • Startup DNA: A strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, always-on, and highly ambiguous startup environment. You adapt quickly to a rapidly changing product and respond strategically to partner needs.
