What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Fractional Executive, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Fractional Executive, you need extensive leadership experience, strategic business acumen, and a proven track record in executive roles, often supported by an advanced degree such as an MBA. Familiarity with virtual collaboration tools (like Slack, Zoom, and project management platforms) and experience with remote business systems are essential. Exceptional communication, adaptability, and self-motivation are crucial soft skills for managing teams and driving results from a distance. These capabilities enable effective leadership, decision-making, and the achievement of organizational goals while working remotely and on a part-time basis.

How do Remote Fractional Executives typically manage communication and collaboration with multiple client organizations?

Remote Fractional Executives often juggle responsibilities across several companies, making effective communication and collaboration crucial. They typically utilize a combination of video conferencing, project management tools, and regular check-ins to stay aligned with each organization's leadership team. Proactive scheduling and clear documentation help ensure priorities are managed and expectations are met. Since each client may have different workflows and cultures, adaptability and strong digital communication skills are essential for maintaining productive relationships.

What is a Remote Fractional Executive?

A Remote Fractional Executive is a senior business leader, such as a CEO, CFO, CMO, or CTO, who works part-time or on a contract basis for multiple organizations, providing high-level expertise and strategic guidance. Unlike a full-time executive, a fractional executive typically splits their time across several companies, helping them address specific challenges or scale operations without the cost of a full-time hire. They work remotely, leveraging digital communication and collaboration tools to lead teams, make decisions, and drive growth from a distance. This arrangement is especially beneficial for startups and small businesses that need executive leadership but can't justify a full-time salary.

Job description

Fractional VP, Payer Contract Analytics

Neolytix | Remote (US) | Part-Time / Retainer

About the Role

Neolytix is seeking a senior healthcare professional to lead our Payer Contract Analytics practice on a fractional basis. This role combines business development, client leadership, and oversight of an offshore analytics team.

The right candidate has deep experience in payer contracting and provider reimbursement, an existing network in the provider space, and wants a flexible engagement with meaningful upside tied to results.

About Neolytix

Neolytix is a healthcare services company based in Chicago, serving 270+ provider organizations with revenue cycle management, credentialing, and analytics services. We have 220+ employees across the US, India, and the Philippines.

We are building a dedicated practice focused on payer contract intelligence — helping providers use price transparency data to benchmark rates, identify opportunities, and negotiate better contracts.

What You'd Do

Business Development

  • Develop pipeline through your network and targeted outreach
  • Lead discovery conversations and scope engagements
  • Develop proposals and close deals

Client Leadership

  • Serve as the senior relationship owner on engagements
  • Present findings and guide negotiation strategy
  • Identify expansion opportunities

Delivery Oversight

  • Direct methodology and quality standards for an offshore analytics team
  • Review deliverables before client presentation
  • Partner with our India-based Technical Lead on execution

Practice Development

  • Shape offerings and positioning based on market feedback
  • Develop referral partnerships
  • Contribute to go-to-market strategy

What's Already in Place

  • Analytics methodology and playbooks
  • Data partnership (Payerset) for Transparency in Coverage data
  • Technical Lead and analysts ready to execute
  • Existing client base for cross-sell
  • Back-office infrastructure (finance, legal, HR)

Who We're Looking For

Experience

  • 15+ years in US healthcare
  • Substantial experience with payer contracting, managed care, or provider reimbursement
  • Track record in consulting, advisory, or analytics-driven roles
  • Experience selling or delivering engagements in the $100K-$500K range

Capabilities

  • Existing relationships with health system executives, practice leaders, or PE operating partners
  • Ability to translate complex analytics into actionable recommendations
  • Comfort overseeing offshore teams and reviewing analytical work
  • Strong executive presence

Mindset

  • Entrepreneurial — energized by building, not just executing
  • Self-directed — can manage your own pipeline and priorities
  • Collaborative — works well with a small, distributed team

Background might include:

  • VP Managed Care or Provider Contracting at a health system
  • Partner or Director at a healthcare consulting firm
  • Operating role at a PE-backed healthcare platform
  • Senior payer executive with provider-side experience

Compensation Overview

Base Retainer You will receive a fixed monthly payment that reflects your part-time commitment to the role. This ensures a steady, predictable income.

Performance Incentive On top of your base pay, you will earn a commission on all revenue generated. Additionally, you will be eligible for bonuses when specific deals are closed.

Target Total Compensation The total package is designed to be highly competitive with current market rates for fractional executive roles, balancing both stability and high-earning potential.

Logistics

  • Commitment: Fractional/ Part time
  • Location: Remote within the US; hybrid if in Chicagoland
  • Travel: Occasional, for client meetings or conferences
  • Structure: W-2 or 1099, based on preference
  • Start: Q2 2026

Must be authorized to work in the US. Neolytix is unable to sponsor visas.

To Apply

Please submit your resume and a brief note covering:

  • Your experience with payer contracting or provider reimbursement
