INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR OPPORTUNITY

Certified Ergonomist โ€” On-Site & Remote Assessments

Nationwide Travel + Remote | โฑ Flexible Hours | Contract / 1099

THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you a credentialed ergonomics professional who thrives on variety, autonomy, and measurable impact? We're looking for an experienced Certified Ergonomist to join our growing network of independent contractors โ€” bringing evidence-based ergonomic expertise to a diverse portfolio of clients across office, industrial, and hybrid work settings.

This is not a 9-to-5. It's a flexible, high-impact contracting engagement designed for self-starters who want to own their schedule, expand their client base, and get paid competitively for specialized expertise. You'll conduct both on-site and remote assessments, deliver actionable recommendations, and help real people work more safely and comfortably every day.

WHY PARTNER WITH US

โœ” Competitive compensation bases on per-assessment and project-based rates โ€” commensurate with your certifications and experience (estimated ~$30-50/hr)

โœ” Fully flexible scheduling โ€” you set your availability and accept engagements that fit your calendar

โœ” Travel reimbursement for all approved on-site visits (mileage, airfare, lodging where applicable)

โœ” Diverse client portfolio โ€” corporate offices, manufacturing facilities, healthcare settings, and remote-first teams

โœ” Ongoing pipeline of work โ€” no cold-calling required; we bring the clients, you deliver the expertise

โœ” Support for continuing education, certification renewal credits, and professional development

WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a contracted Certified Ergonomist, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct comprehensive ergonomic evaluations across office, industrial, clinical, and hybrid work environments โ€” both in person and via digital platforms.
  • Deliver detailed, professionally written assessment reports with clear findings, risk ratings, and prioritized recommendations tailored to each client.
  • Perform asynchronous remote evaluations using video submissions, self-report tools, and digital assessment platforms, providing actionable guidance without requiring on-site presence.
  • Identify musculoskeletal risk factors and design practical, cost-effective interventions โ€” from workstation adjustments to process redesign.
  • Develop and deliver ergonomics training sessions, toolbox talks, and educational materials for employees, supervisors, and EHS teams.
  • Collaborate with client-side safety officers, HR professionals, occupational health specialists, and facilities teams to ensure recommendations are implemented effectively.
  • Maintain accurate, organized assessment records and documentation in compliance with applicable OSHA and regulatory standards.
  • Support follow-up evaluations to measure the effectiveness of implemented ergonomic controls and document outcomes.
  • Ability to deliver a professional deliverable report to company and client.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPE (Certified Professional Ergonomist) or CIE (Certified Industrial Ergonomist) โ€” required
  • Strong written communication skills โ€” ability to produce clear, client-ready reports independently
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Ergonomics, Human Factors, Kinesiology, OT, AT, or related field
  • Comfortable working autonomously and managing multiple client engagements simultaneously
  • Minimum 3 years conducting ergonomic assessments (office and/or industrial settings)
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and occupational health and safety regulations
  • Proficiency in ergonomic evaluation tools and assessment methodologies (RULA, REBA, NIOSH Lift Equation, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to travel to client sites (estimated 25โ€“50% of engagements)

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with remote and hybrid workforce ergonomics โ€” video-based assessments, self-assessment platforms, and asynchronous consultation workflows.
  • Knowledge of assistive technology, adaptive workstation design, and ADA-compliant ergonomic solutions.
  • Experience across multiple industries (e.g., technology, manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, financial services).
  • Familiarity with wearable sensor technology, motion capture tools, or digital human modeling software.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-relations skills โ€” ability to build trust and communicate recommendations persuasively to non-technical audiences.
  • Bilingual a plus (Spanish, French, or other languages spoken in client workforces).
