Position Summary
The Business Development Manager - Networking, Connectivity, and Condition Monitoring will play a key role in driving growth across Banner's various product families. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, expanding strategic customer relationships, identifying high-value applications, and helping position Banner as a preferred partner for industrial automation, machine health monitoring, and connected factory solutions.
This position will focus on both new and existing customers, including OEMs, end users, system integrators, distributors, and strategic accounts. The ideal candidate will have strong technical sales capability, experience with industrial automation or related technologies, and the ability to translate customer needs into scalable business opportunities for Banner.
This position reports to the VP of Networking, Connectivity, and Condition Monitoring.
What You'll Be Doing

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new business opportunities for Banner's networking, connectivity, remote I/O, industrial wireless, and condition monitoring solutions
  • Identify and pursue target accounts in strategic market segments where Banner's connected automation and machine health solutions can provide measurable customer value
  • Make joint sales calls with Area Sales Managers, Strategic Account Executives, distributors, product management, marketing, engineering, and sales enablement teams to develop and execute account and market strategies
  • Work closely with customers to understand their operational challenges, automation architecture, machine health objectives, data connectivity needs, and business drivers
  • Provide subject matter expertise and technical credibility to help customers understand Banner's value proposition across connectivity, sensing, monitoring, and industrial communication solutions
  • Develop, document, and clearly define business opportunities, including customer pain points, value proposition, estimated revenue potential, competitive landscape, and path to close
  • Support early-stage opportunity discovery, customer qualification, application analysis, and solution positioning
  • Help customers evaluate solutions involving industrial networks, remote I/O, IO-Link, Modbus, Ethernet-based protocols, wireless communication, condition monitoring sensors, and related software or gateway products
  • Drive growth with customers focused on predictive maintenance, reliability, asset monitoring, operational efficiency, remote monitoring, and connected industrial equipment
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to communicate market needs, customer requirements, competitive intelligence, and potential product gaps
  • Develop and support sales tools, customer presentations, application stories, ROI models, and market-specific collateral in partnership with marketing and sales enablement
  • Coordinate selling activities across the Banner organization to ensure required stakeholder involvement and alignment
  • Represent Banner at industry events, trade shows, conferences, customer meetings, and relevant associations to increase market visibility and remain current on industry trends
  • Manage a pipeline of opportunities and provide regular updates to leadership on progress, market feedback, forecasted revenue, risks, and trends
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to accounts, contacts, activities, and opportunities in the CRM system
  • Meet or exceed annual sales, pipeline development, and strategic growth objectives
  • Uphold compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Business, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Associate degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field and 6 years of direct field sales experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of technical sales, business development, strategic account, or field sales experience in industrial automation, industrial networking, connectivity, controls, reliability, condition monitoring, or related markets
  • Strong technical sales ability and expertise in automation / controls, sensing, cabling, and safety systems
  • Familiarity with at least some of the following technologies: IO-Link, ModbusRTU, ModbusTCP, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, MQTT, industrial wireless, remote I/O, condition monitoring sensors, vibration monitoring, machine health, or predictive maintenance solutions
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, product management, engineering, marketing, and channel partners
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage long projects and collaborate across teams
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to meet distributors or customers

Preferred
  • Experience with industrial networking, remote I/O, IO-Link, wireless, gateways, or industrial communication protocols
  • Experience selling condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, reliability, or asset monitoring solutions
  • Experience selling to maintenance, reliability, operations, engineering, and plant leadership teams
  • Experience working with distributors, manufacturer representatives, system integrators, or OEM partner networks
  • Experience with strategic selling, account planning, sales metrics, forecasting, and pipeline management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage long-cycle opportunities and coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Base Pay Range: $120,550 - $174,563.00
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons. This position is also eligible for annual sales bonus.
