Job Title: Commercial Lines Agent (Sales)
Location: Remote - Ohio (must reside in Ohio; this is targeting Ohio business for an Ohio Agency)
Reports to: EVP or Agency Leader
Department: Commercial Lines
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Purpose
The Commercial Lines Agent (Sales) is responsible for driving new business production and revenue growth through the sale of commercial insurance products including general liability, property, workers' compensation, umbrella, and specialty lines. This individual contributor role focuses on prospecting, relationship-building, and delivering consultative risk management solutions. The Producer partners with carrier markets and internal teams to deliver competitive coverage options while building a sustainable book of business.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Business Production

  • Actively prospect and generate new business through referrals, networking, and outbound efforts.
  • Sell commercial lines insurance products including property, liability, workers' compensation, umbrella, and specialty lines.
  • Develop and manage a strong pipeline of qualified prospects.
  • Meet or exceed individual sales and revenue targets.
  • Cross-sell and round out accounts to maximize client value.

2. Carrier and Market Coordination
  • Work closely with carrier partners to obtain competitive quotes and coverage options.
  • Stay informed on carrier appetite, underwriting guidelines, and product offerings.
  • Market new business to appropriate carriers to secure optimal terms.

3. Sales Process and Execution
  • Manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through binding coverage.
  • Prepare and present proposals in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and pipeline tracking in Applied Epic.
  • Ensure compliance with agency procedures and regulatory requirements.

4. Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through a consultative sales approach.
  • Educate clients on coverage options and risk management strategies.
  • Partner with Account Managers for seamless onboarding and ongoing service.
  • Deliver a high-touch and responsive client experience.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in commercial insurance sales or production.
  • Active Property & Casualty insurance license required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products and carrier markets.
  • Excellent communication, sales, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in agency management systems (e.g., EPIC, AMS360) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based with expectations of in-person collaboration.
  • May require extended hours during peak sales periods.
  • Must be able to pull or lift up to 15 pounds at times.
