Enterprise Data Architect

Regular Position | Full-Time | Remote

If you are a forward-thinker interested in building enterprise data strategy, strengthening data governance, and creating scalable data architecture across a growing organization, then keep reading! We are searching for an experienced Enterprise Data Architect to join our Vantage Elevation team.

About Us

Vantage Elevation, LLC is North America’s leading independent manufacturer of elevator components and systems. Vantage is comprised of eight business units, including GAL Manufacturing, GAL Canada, Hollister-Whitney, Elevator Controls, Courion, Bore-Max, Thames Valley Controls, and Vertical Dimensions.

Through its brands, Vantage supplies nearly all of the electro-mechanical devices used in contemporary elevators. Founded in 1927, the Vantage group employs more than 900 team members across multiple locations in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

About the Role

The Enterprise Data Architect is responsible for designing and evolving Vantage Elevation’s enterprise data landscape across master data governance (MDG), master data management (MDM), and data warehousing and analytics.

This role will translate business requirements from Finance, Sales, Operations, and Engineering into scalable, well-governed data architecture spanning our ERP (Infor Visual), CPQ (Tacton), CRM (Salesforce), and analytics platforms (Microsoft Fabric / SQL Server).

The Enterprise Data Architect will partner closely with the Master Data Governance Council, domain application managers, and business stakeholders to ensure data is accurate, consistent, well-modeled, and readily available for reporting and decision-making across Vantage’s multi-site, engineer-to-order and configure-to-order manufacturing environment.

Requirements

We are searching for a candidate with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered
  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, master data management, or enterprise data warehousing, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing MDM and/or MDG programs, including governance frameworks, stewardship models, and data quality metrics
  • Strong data modeling skills, including dimensional and entity-relationship modeling
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server, data warehousing, and modern analytics platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, or equivalent
  • Experience with ERP and CPQ data structures; experience with Infor Visual and Tacton is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with integration platforms and API-based data synchronization patterns
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical data concepts for business stakeholders and executive audiences
  • Experience supporting ERP migrations or major system upgrades from a data architecture perspective is a plus
  • Experience within a private-equity-owned or multi-site discrete manufacturing environment, particularly engineer-to-order or configure-to-order, is preferred
  • Familiarity with data governance and MDM tooling evaluation
  • CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), DAMA-DMBOK familiarity, Microsoft Fabric/Azure Data certifications, or similar credentials are a plus
  • Experience chairing or actively supporting a formal data governance council or committee is preferred
Duties and Responsibilities

A typical day may include:

Master Data Governance (MDG)
  • Serve as the architectural lead supporting the Master Data Governance Council and help define and maintain data governance policies, standards, and stewardship models across customer, item, supplier, and site master domains
  • Design and maintain data quality rules, ownership matrices, and approval workflows for the creation, modification, and retirement of master data records
  • Define and track data quality KPIs, including completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and duplication rates, and lead root-cause analysis and remediation of recurring data quality issues
  • Document and maintain data lineage, business glossaries, and data dictionaries for critical master and reference data entities
  • Facilitate cross-functional governance forums and drive alignment between IT and business data owners on policy exceptions and process changes
Master Data Management (MDM)
  • Architect and support the selection and implementation of MDM tooling and integration patterns to synchronize master data across Infor Visual ERP, Tacton CPQ, and Salesforce
  • Design golden-record strategies, matching and merge rules, and survivorship logic for key domains, including customer, item, vendor, and site data
  • Define integration and data synchronization patterns in partnership with the Integrations domain manager, leveraging MuleSoft for real-time and batch master data flows
  • Establish data stewardship workflows and exception-handling processes for conflicting or duplicate records across source systems
  • Support M&A and site-expansion data onboarding, ensuring new business units are incorporated into the enterprise master data model with minimal disruption
Data Warehousing & Analytics
  • Own the logical and physical data architecture for the enterprise data warehouse (SQL Server) and broader analytics platform (Microsoft Fabric), including dimensional models, semantic layers, and data marts
  • Design ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration flows from transactional systems, including Visual, Tacton, Salesforce, OneStream, Esker, and DocuWare, into the warehouse and Fabric lakehouse
  • Partner with FP&A, Operations, and Sales leadership to translate reporting and analytics requirements into scalable data models and self-service semantic models
  • Define standards for data modeling, naming conventions, version control, and documentation across the analytics environment
  • Monitor and optimize data pipeline performance, storage costs, and platform reliability
  • Establish monitoring and alerting for data pipeline failures and SLA breaches
Architecture, Strategy & Collaboration
  • Maintain and evolve Vantage’s enterprise data architecture reference model in alignment with the broader application and integration architecture
  • Evaluate emerging tools and platforms, including MDM suites, data catalogs, and PDM/MDM dependencies, and provide build-versus-buy recommendations to IT leadership
  • Produce architecture documentation, data flow diagrams, and governance artifacts appropriate for technical teams as well as executive and board audiences
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to domain application managers, including ERP, CPQ, and Integrations, on data-related design decisions
  • Ensure data architecture decisions support compliance, audit, and financial reporting requirements across U.S. and Canadian business units
  • Complete other projects and responsibilities as assigned
