Payroll Specialist (Part-Time, Remote Contract)
Location: Remote ( Must reside in the Greater Chicago area )
Pay: $26/hour
Duration: 4-Month Contract
Hours: 25-30 hours/week
Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for approximately 300 employees across multiple pay groups. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work independently while meeting critical deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Process semi-monthly payroll and off-cycle payrolls
  • Review and validate timecards, earnings, deductions, and adjustments
  • Process bonuses, commissions, retro pay, severance, and other special payments
  • Maintain employee payroll records and updates
  • Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
  • Perform payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Partner with HR and payroll team members to ensure data accuracy and compliance
Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience
  • Strong experience with UKG Pro Payroll
  • Multi-state payroll experience required
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables)
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and payroll deadlines

Pay Details: $25.00 to $26.00 per hour
