Job description

Role: Corporate IT Administrator

Location: Miami, Florida

Apply: www.spearmintenergy.com / joinus@spearmintenergy.com

Who We Are

Spearmint Energy is an integrated energy infrastructure platform focused on developing, owning, operating, and optimizing battery energy storage systems ("BESS") to reduce grid volatility, provide system stability for new large loads, and increase system resiliency. Spearmint currently operates 350 MW/700 MWh in ERCOT with an additional 300 MW/600 MWh under construction and has projects under development throughout the United States. Headquartered in Florida, with an additional office in Minnesota, Spearmint Energy is guided by strong values rooted in people, partnerships, and the planet.

For more information, please visit: https://www.spearmintenergy.com/

What You Will Do

We are seeking a Corporate IT Administrator to join our team at Spearmint Energy. This senior individual contributor role owns the Company's core corporate IT function: the applications, vendors, equipment, and support experience behind Spearmint's corporate operations. Infrastructure, helpdesk, and Microsoft 365 tenant administration are outsourced to an established IT managed services provider ("MSP"), so the focus of this role is directing that provider, administering the corporate application portfolio, and delivering white-glove support where it matters most

The role works closely with Spearmint's internal security team (which owns cybersecurity for the Company's systems), operational technology team (which supports project-site networks and technology), and two data and software development teams. The position reports to the Chief Development Officer initially, transitioning to the Chief Operating Officer or Chief Financial Officer once in place, and supports both the Miami headquarters and, remotely and through periodic travel, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota office.

Managed Services and Vendor Management:

  • Serve as Spearmint's primary day-to-day contact and approver for the Company's IT MSP, including weekly service calls, escalation, performance management against contract scope, and scoping of one-off projects.
  • Own subscription and renewal tracking across corporate IT vendors, vendor billing and authorized-contact records, ISP and telecom coordination for both offices, and IT purchasing within an approved budget.

Corporate Applications Administration:

  • Administer Spearmint's corporate software portfolio, including Microsoft 365 licensing (via MSP), board portal, applicant tracking, expense management, archiving, ITSM/ticketing, password management, and telephony platforms.
  • Manage seat and access administration for enterprise AI tools in line with company AI governance, and maintain software license reconciliation and the software contract repository.

Executive and Event Support:

  • In coordination with the MSP, provide hands-on, white-glove technology support for Spearmint's executive team, including device setup, mobile support, and rapid response.
  • Own the technology experience for board meetings, investor sessions, town halls, and other high-visibility events: conference room readiness, Teams Rooms and AV operation, and on-site troubleshooting.

Employee Lifecycle and End-User Support:

  • Run IT onboarding and offboarding end to end, manage hardware inventory, loaner stock, and equipment purchasing and decommissioning, and keep office technology in both offices reliable.
  • Act as the internal escalation point between employees and the MSP helpdesk, including remote support of the Eden Prairie office.

Collaboration and Governance:

  • Partner with the internal security team on policy implementation, access reviews, and security awareness training; coordinate with the operational technology and data teams where corporate IT intersects their domains.
  • Document processes, systems, and vendor relationships; support IT-related diligence and public-company readiness workstreams; and automate workflows using enterprise AI tools such as Claude.
Who You Are

Spearmint highly encourages interested candidates to apply, even if they do not fulfill all the requirements listed below. Spearmint values diverse experiences and understands that such experiences may differ from traditional career trajectories.

Education: A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Business, or a related field is typical for this role but not required. Equivalent experience and demonstrated capability will be considered.

Experience: 5-8+ years of progressive experience in IT administration or IT operations, including direct support of executives or other VIP users. Experience managing a managed services provider and working in a multi-office, high-growth company are strong pluses.

Technical Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID, licensing) sufficient to direct and quality-check an MSP performing tenant administration.
  • Hands-on experience administering common corporate SaaS platforms and endpoint management tools (Intune or comparable), plus proficiency with conference room and AV technology, including Microsoft Teams Rooms.
  • Demonstrated fluency leveraging enterprise generative AI tools (Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or comparable) to automate workflows, draft documentation, and improve throughput.
  • Solid IT security hygiene (MFA, access reviews, least privilege) with the judgment to operate within policies set by a dedicated security team.

Service Orientation: A genuine white-glove support mindset. You are calm under pressure, discreet with sensitive information, and take personal pride in executives and events being technology-flawless.

Organization: Exceptional attention to detail across renewals, inventories, licenses, and documentation, with proven ability to hold vendors accountable for quality, timelines, and cost.

Collaboration: Comfortable owning corporate IT decisively as the sole dedicated administrator while coordinating with dedicated security, operational technology, and data teams in their domains, and communicating clearly with everyone from new hires to the board.

Adaptability: Strong capacity to manage shifting priorities in a fast-moving company preparing for public-company operations.

Physical Requirements and Environment

The work conditions reflect those experienced while performing essential job functions. Reasonable accommodation will be provided for individuals with disabilities. The candidate will mainly do sedentary office work, occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds (e.g., IT equipment), and may need to sit, stand, walk, and use a computer.

This is an in-office role based in Miami, Florida. Spearmint's current policy allows up to one day per week of remote work contingent on business needs. Periodic travel to the Company's Eden Prairie, Minnesota office is expected.

While the company's offices operate during traditional business hours, the nature of the company's work includes 24x7x365 operations. This role is not expected to require routine work outside normal business hours however occasional work may be required during off hours due to business needs such as communicating across time zones, traveling, supporting planned and unplanned outages or maintenance, and other business-critical needs. This role does have limited on-call responsibilities.

Must have work authorization to work in the United States.
