Job description

Salary Range: $100,000-$120,000 - This may fluctuate based on experience or education.
The Senior IT System Administrator is responsible for maintaining and optimizing our IT infrastructure, including Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, server maintenance, virtualization, cloud infrastructure (primarily Azure), security, and networking. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to work collaboratively with various teams to ensure the seamless operation of our IT environment. The ideal candidate would have a commitment to ongoing learning and staying current with emerging technologies. The position is an in-office position and will report to the Director of IT at the corporate office, located in San Francisco, CA. The position may require on-call and after-hours support, as well as some travel for site visits or training.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Microsoft Active Directory:
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory (AD) and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security groups.
  • Implement AD best practices and troubleshoot AD-related issues.
  • Perform regular AD health checks and ensure system integrity.
Office 365 Management:
  • Administer Office 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive for Business.
  • Manage user accounts, licensing, and service configurations.
  • Provided support for Office 365 applications and resolved related issues.
  • Implement and manage data loss prevention (DLP) policies and retention rules.
Server Maintenance:
  • Oversee physical and virtual servers
  • Monitor server performance, conduct regular updates, and perform backups.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server issues to minimize downtime.
  • Implement and manage server security patches and updates.
Virtualization:
  • Manage and optimize virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix).
  • Oversee virtual machine creation, configuration, and performance tuning.
  • Ensure high availability and disaster recovery solutions for virtual environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve virtualization-related issues.
Cloud Infrastructure (Azure):
  • Administer and maintain Azure cloud services and resources.
  • Manage Azure subscriptions, resource groups, and service configurations.
  • Implement and manage Azure security best practices and access controls.
  • Monitor cloud resource usage, performance, and cost.
Security:
  • Implement and manage IT security measures, including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Respond to and mitigate security incidents and breaches.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
Networking:
  • Administer and support networking infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Configure and manage VPNs, VLANs, and network access controls.
  • Implement and support network security measures.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all IT systems and procedures.
  • Create and manage system diagrams, configuration records, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and project status.
Collaboration and Support:
    • Work closely with other IT staff, departments, and external vendors to resolve technical issues.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff and helpdesk personnel.
    • Participate in IT planning and strategy sessions.
WHAT WE NEED:
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT system administration with a focus on Active Directory, Office 365, server maintenance, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, security, and networking preferred
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Office 365, VMware/Hyper-V, Azure, and network management.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security+, VMware Certified Professional, Cisco CCNA/CCNP) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Azure CLI, etc.).
    • Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.
    • Familiarity with additional cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus.
