What is remote construction data analytics?

Remote construction data analytics involves collecting, processing, and analyzing data from construction projects without being physically present on-site. Professionals in this field use digital tools and software to monitor project progress, track equipment and materials, and identify trends or issues from a distance. This approach helps optimize decision-making, improve project efficiency, and reduce costs by leveraging real-time data and insights. Remote analytics are increasingly important as construction companies adopt more technology-driven methods.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote construction data analytics, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in remote construction data analytics often encounter challenges such as data inconsistency from multiple sources, limited real-time access to on-site information, and effective communication with field teams. To address these, it's important to establish standardized data collection protocols, leverage cloud-based tools for real-time data sharing, and maintain regular virtual meetings with project stakeholders. Building strong relationships with both technical and construction teams also helps ensure that analytics insights are actionable and relevant to on-site operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Construction Data Analytics professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Construction Data Analytics professional, you need a strong background in data analysis, construction management principles, and a relevant degree such as construction engineering, data science, or a related field. Familiarity with analytics tools like Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and construction management systems such as Procore or Autodesk BIM 360 is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail are soft skills that help translate complex data insights to project stakeholders. These skills ensure accurate, actionable analytics that drive efficiency, cost savings, and informed decision-making in construction projects.

Job description

The Company

At EV Realty, we're building the infrastructure backbone that powers the electrification of next generation commercial fleets - one high-powered charging hub at a time.

We develop, own, and operate purpose-built EV charging hubs designed to solve the critical barrier to fleet electrification: access to reliable, low-cost, scalable grid power. Our Powered Properties are strategically located to serve fleet customers where they operate, providing dedicated, secure charging solutions where and when they need it most. We build with reliability and scale in mind, delivering the infrastructure that mission-critical commercial fleets require to keep moving.

We believe in transparency, ownership, and building things the right way - for our customers and for our team. If you're excited to help build the new era of commercial transportation, we'd love to meet you.

The Role

As a Data Analytics Intern you will help build and maintain various analytics tools and processes that will support project siting decisions, related to the electric grid and/or customer acquisition, and directly enable EV Realty's ability to operate in a wide range of markets. This role will support the vision, strategy roadmap, development, and continued improvement of these tools. The Data Analytics Intern will work primarily with the Data Science team but may require cross-collaboration with our Business Development, Real Estate, and Operations teams. This position is a summer internship.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, a natural problem solver who is highly adaptable, and an effective communicator; they will have a strong programmatic approach but also the flexibility and creativity to source, interpret, and utilize data in unconventional ways.

This role will be located in San Francisco, CA or Salt Lake City, UT.

Key Responsibilities

The Data Analytics Intern is a summer position which will contribute to various projects that support EV Realty's analytics tools and processes.

This includes:

  • Assist with data pipelines, transformations, and data preparation for integration with EV Realty's backend infrastructure and tools
  • Develop Python/SQL scripts for data analysis, automation, and supporting analytical workflows
  • Query SQL databases and leverage GIS to support business analytics and reporting needs
  • Document analytical workflows, processes, data definitions, and research in a clear and effective manner
  • Assist with LLM and AI innovation initiatives to enhance end-user experiences
  • Help create niche data products as needed to support internal team objectives
  • Work with cross-functional leaders and experts to establish best practices and identify opportunities to improve the product development and delivery process
  • Effectively communicate key insights from analyses, methodologies, and data products to internal teams
Knowledge and Skills
  • Programming Proficiency and experience in Python, SQL, or similar languages. Python and SQL preferred
  • Aptitude for GIS-based techniques, data structures, and software such as CARTO, ArcGIS, or QGIS
  • Analytical experience with Excel
  • Cloud infrastructure knowledge with Snowflake, Databricks or similar platform
  • Strong analytical skills and innate problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
  • Must be comfortable in an unstructured, fast-moving, and constantly evolving high-growth environment
  • Naturally accountable, responsible, and self-motivated. Independent workflow must be effectively harmonized with remote collaboration
  • Familiarity with the transportation, energy or broader infrastructure sectors is a plus but not required
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, GIS, Business Analytics or related fields
  • Junior or Senior standing preferred
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
