Job description

Responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the collection, analysis, and presentation of geospatial data for projects such as wind farms, solar power plants, and other renewable energy developments. This position will work under the direction of senior engineers, gradually taking on more responsibility as you gain experience in the industry.
 

Travel: This position is open to being remote with up to 25% travel throughout the US.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct topographic, boundary, and environmental surveys for sites involved in green energy and sustainable development using GPS, total stations, and other surveying instruments
  • Process and analyze geospatial data to produce maps, models, and reports that assist in the planning and design of these sites
  • Assist in the development of 3D models and simulations to optimize site layouts and assess environmental impacts
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and land use laws relevant to sustainable projects
  • Collaborate with project teams to integrate geospatial data into planning, construction, and operational phases
  • Participate in client meetings to provide geospatial insights relevant to site selection, design, and environmental assessments
  • Continue to develop technical skills through ongoing training, focusing on geospatial applications in sustainable infrastructure projects
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

Geomatics Engineer I:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying, Geospatial Science, or a related field
  • One to three years of experience in geomatics or a related field
  • Compensation $76k-$98k/ year, commensurate with experience

Geomatics Engineer II:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying, Geospatial Science, or a related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Three to five years of experience in geomatics or a related field
  • Compensation $87k-$113k/ year, commensurate with experience

Geomatics Engineer III:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering, Surveying, Geospatial Science, or a related field
  • Master’s degree or professional certification (i.e. Professional Surveyor) preferred
  • Five+ years of experience in geomatics or a related field
  • Previous experiencing managing large projects
  • Compensation $101k-$133k/ year, commensurate with experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Proficiency in GIS software, surveying instruments, and data processing tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and good communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
