One common challenge in remote commercial construction is maintaining clear communication and coordination among distributed teams and on-site personnel. Since much of the work is managed virtually, professionals must rely on digital tools and regular check-ins to monitor project progress, address issues, and ensure safety compliance. Effective time management and adaptability are key for overcoming these hurdles and ensuring projects stay on track.

What is remote commercial construction?

Remote commercial construction refers to the management and execution of commercial building projects from a location away from the physical job site, often using digital tools and technology. Professionals in this field coordinate tasks such as project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and contractor communication without being onsite. This approach leverages construction management software, video calls, and cloud-based document sharing to oversee projects efficiently. Remote commercial construction can help companies save costs, access a wider talent pool, and increase flexibility, although it requires strong communication and organization skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Commercial Construction Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Commercial Construction Manager, you need solid expertise in project management, construction processes, and commercial building codes, typically supported by a degree in construction management or engineering. These skills and qualifications are vital to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget, even when managed from a distance.

Job description

Altitude Services LLC

Construction Estimator

Location: Remote in Texas / Travel throughout Texas required

Estimate the Work That Helps Preserve Texas History.

Altitude Services LLC is a Dallas-based construction company specializing in historical restoration, masonry, concrete, paint and coatings, plaster work, and commercial construction. Our work requires accuracy, patience, craftsmanship, and respect for historic structures, and we are looking for an estimator who can help us plan, price, and win the right projects.

We are hiring a Construction Estimator to support estimating across multiple scopes, including masonry, concrete, paint and coatings, plaster, restoration, and commercial construction. This role may be remote within Texas, but travel is required to visit project sites, review conditions, gather information, and understand the full scope of work. The ideal candidate has strong commercial construction estimating experience, can perform takeoffs, understands renovation or restoration complexity, and is comfortable working with detailed specifications and longer project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project documents
  • Perform takeoffs and prepare accurate estimates across multiple trade scopes
  • Visit project sites throughout Texas to assess conditions and gather information
  • Coordinate with leadership, project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal support staff
  • Understand project requirements related to historic restoration, commercial construction, and renovation work
  • Help prepare pricing, budgets, proposals, and bid information
  • Track details, documents, deadlines, and follow-up items throughout the estimating process
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external contacts
  • Support process improvements as the estimating function grows
  • Uphold company values of craftsmanship, integrity, respect, and preservation
  • Firm grasp on production rates.

Qualifications

  • 5+ Years of construction estimating experience preffered
  • 3+ Years of commercial construction, subcontractor, self-perform, renovation, or restoration experience preferred
  • Ability to estimate across multiple scopes such as concrete, masonry, plaster, paint, and coatings
  • Strong takeoff, plan reading, and document review skills
  • Comfortable with detailed paperwork, slower timelines, and historic preservation requirements
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while staying connected to the team
  • Willing and able to travel throughout Texas, including driving to smaller towns and project locations
  • Experience with historic restoration is a plus, but not required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred. Note: potential for a company vehicle in the future.

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-Time. W-2 Employment
  • Pay: $95,000 - $125,000 per year, based on experience
  • Remote flexibility within Texas
  • Travel required, with travel-related support/per diem as applicable
  • Paid holidays. Six per year
  • Opportunity to grow into a key estimating role within a specialized historic restoration company

Why Altitude Services LLC

Altitude Services LLC gives estimators the chance to work on projects that require more than basic pricing. Our work involves historic buildings, commercial clients, detailed scopes, and unique field conditions that require careful thinking and strong construction judgment. This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to take ownership, support company growth, and eventually help remove estimating responsibilities from ownership. If you are detail-oriented, experienced in construction, and interested in meaningful restoration work, this role offers room to make a real impact.

Altitude Services LLC encourages applications from qualified candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
