Salary $70,000-$75,000 + Monthly Commissions + Benefits (OTE: 85k-100k)
Overview
We are seeking a results-driven Certified Payment Specialist to enhance client onboarding, profitable growth of accounts, and client management. In this role, you will onboard qualified merchants, work with underwriters, help new clients go live, ensure effective product utilization, act as the primary point of contact dedicated to assigned high-value merchants and maintain long-term relationships to drive account retention and growth
What It Means to Be a Certified Payment Specialist
As a Certified Payment Specialist, you will join a uniquely trained team that navigates the complexities of merchant services, especially in high-risk environments. You will gain valuable experience with diverse business models, marketing strategies, and technical solutions, allowing you to understand enterprise-level payment structures. We will support your growth through comprehensive research, case studies, and training on cutting-edge technologies, ensuring you can apply this knowledge effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Merchant Onboarding: Guide verification calls, guide merchants through the onboarding process, verify documents, and create personalized 12-month Payment Strategies for new clients.
  • Liaising with Underwriters: Act as a primary point of contact between merchants and underwriters, facilitating new account approvals and managing existing assigned accounts.
  • Cross Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with prospects, clients, underwriters, and internal support staff to enhance teamwork and drive success.
  • Strategic Planning: Process applications, establish rapport, set expectations for transaction volume and banking diversification, and proactively address risk issues.
  • Efficiency Focus: End-goal oriented, with the ability to accomplish tasks in the fewest steps possible-aiming for one-call closes and collecting all necessary documents and information in a single interaction to maximize efficiency
  • Account Performance: Track key merchant account metrics, including chargebacks and declines, ensuring alignment with the Payment Strategy.
  • Account Management: Follow up on Payment Strategy milestones and maximize MID utilization within the EPD footprint.
  • Account Retention: Conduct salvage efforts for closed accounts and assist in sourcing alternative processors as needed.
  • Referral Pipeline: Build and nurture a referral pipeline to attract additional business and expand the client base.

Support and Activities:
  • Engage in active learning through training and mentoring to improve personal effectiveness, ongoing self-development as well as that of the CPS team and the company.
  • Participate in delivering training and providing constructive input to peers.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of sales, the CPS group, and the company, including providing feedback on SOPs and supporting initiatives to improve closure rates.

Location: Remote Role, but willing to support and assist anyone open to relocating to Austin TX.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Prior experience in 'High-Risk' merchant services needed
  • Prior experience managing a dedicated book of high-value merchants a plus
  • Underwriting experience is a plus
  • Proven track record working with High-Risk businesses
  • Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Tech-savvy - in-depth experience with CRMs and industry systems
